945 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jimibgood
Hey guys,

How would I go about setting up RAID with this motherboard? I've tried following the manual, but some of the software they're talking about, I don't think came on the CD. if someone could outline the process, I'd appreciate it and of course, rep.

Thanks a bunch!

What type of RAID, Mirror or stripe?
If stripe, you'll have to reinstall the OS.

There should be a RAID option in the BIOS.
Then you have to load the RAID driver(s).

It's a little more complicated, but those are the parts you seem to not understand.
You need to download the raid driver from manufacturer or use your cd that came with motherboard. If you have win7, the drivers WILL NOT BE ON THE CD. If you have win7 save it as an ISO on a CD from website. You need to create the raid in your bios and reinstall the operating system. Windows will have a window that pops up and browse to your cd drive to load the drivers.

Win7 does a pretty good job automatically installing drivers for most anything.

reinstall the operating system .Only if the array is to be bootable. You can set up a non-bootable array without reinstalling an OS.

If your wanting to install raid0 stripe on vista/windows7 they will have there own drivers.
Enter bios and set your defalt ( IDE ) to (raid) and reboot. While its booting up hit Ctrl + I which will bring up the intel storage setup and this is where you set up your array. Now just load your OS and your done.

I own the board and am running raid0. It does NOT install drivers. Repeat...Does not. I do see you do not own this mobo. I will leave it at that.

Kinda what I suggested was to save drivers and if he has win7, he can load it at the proper time when OS asks for them. They are not in win7.
