I would agree with GermanyChris on this one. Apple usually seems to be the first to get the refreshed CPUs so when they get them, the rest of the world will get them shortly.

Well, after owning it for over 5 years my late '08 Macbook is starting to show it's age. It's still very fast due to the SSD upgrade I gave it, but I was bummed to find out my Macbook doesn't support the Mavericks or Yosemite OS upgrades. 3,1 Macbooks are a no go.

Yeah, that is pretty true. Can the computer handle 10.8? I am thinking the 3,1 could. I would go to that over 10.7.
Wait.... I looked the 3,1 up in MacTracker and you are right. It only supports up to 10.7. Sorry to doubt.

Another useful Fan Control software that is free out there: Macs Fan Control. http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. I have used it on a few iMacs with fan issues after replacing the HD.

I prefer it over smc fan control as you can change what sensors the fan speed is based on, and can change the temp where speed starts to increase. I also like how there's a windows version too, for bootcamp.
