Macbook freezes/crashes at least 2 times a day?

Hey guys.. so i have a macbook and it been crashing/freezing 2 times a day and up to 7 times.. its been going on for months but since i use it for web its not to bad. Ive upgraded the memory with ocz 4 gb of ddr3 ram (specs wise its the same as the stock apple ram) and a western digital scorpio black 7200 rpm 500gb hard drive. After taking it to apple 3 times they seem to be stumped on whats wrong after trying reinstalling the os. wiping the hard drive, redoing the permissions.. and such no luck. What could be the problem? typically it crashes when the bottom is warm/hot .. but when the computers cool it usually fine.. but my guess its a memory problem? what you guys think?

You just said what the problem is...

(Heat)

Is it dusty, is the fan broken, broken temp sensors? If you stick it on a cooling pad that they make for laptops, does it still crash?

How are you using this laptop? Is it on a desk or on your lap? Is it on top of papers or fabric or similar?

i use it on a desk, which it would crash maybe every other day (it crashed 3 times once when i took it to the apple store) .. but it definately crashes when my girlfiend uses it on the bed .. which i bet its not getting proper airflow maybe?

Yup. Could be a dusty heatsink which is compounding the problem.

hmm .. just opened it up and couldnt find any dust. well just one small piece maybe.. a square cm. I used come compressed air on it =] doubt that that little piece could cause the problem tho...? =\\

Dust won't be your problem... It takes a LOT of dust build up to crash a computer. What exactly is happening when it crashes?

hmm well i could be like.. typing this lets say and the screen will just freeze and no button works so im forced to hold down the power button.

other times it freezes like when music is playing it will freeze on a segment and repeat over and over (like a click noise instead the music)

=\\ would that help if the bottom has no airvents? its just a piece of metal, it gets air though the keyboard and it lets out the air next to the screen hinge

I could go with you and say it sounds like a memory problem, but it also could be so many other things. If you want me to come out and say the first thing I think it is though, I would say memory. I'm basing that on I've had memory crashes similar to this.
tehe... (Remembers cousins claiming macs don't crash)
What does the screen display when it crashes, and try the system with the old ram to troubleshoot.

yaaa.. hmm well i just did a search on google and it seems some other people have had problems after installing 3rd party ram with crashes and lock ups with this model of mac book.. What could make this memory do this if its specs the same as apple? (well although im not sure if timing is the same as apple but OCZ pc3 8500 8-8-8 @ 1.5V)

they have it at frys for $45 .. so its not that bad >_< well worth it for a dependable computer
Perhaps the ram you put in it is bum? Has it been doing it since the time you installed it? Also, it could have stopped proper working order shortly after installing it. It's too bad you can't put the other ram in it and try that...
