have you tried patching the game? I know it doesnt seem relevant, but try it anyways. Other than that I have no idea.

It's sad 'cause I knew there was a patch, but this is not the first install (worked initially), and the patch states a fix related to AMD multi-core CPU's. I am running on my Sig Rig.
Odd... if you look at the initial screen shot I took, the specs state AMD

Can I jack this thread now that you got yours fixed.
I downloaded a digital version of this game from Direct to Drive using their download manager. I go to setup the game. I am prompted for language, I select English. I hit "Next," Click on "I Agree(to terms and conditions)," click I agree again to get to next screen, then I enter my game key. Well after entering the game key and hitting next I get taken to a screen that says , "The installation of Mass Effect has been cancelled. To run the installer again, please run setup."
Now I have looked up the setup program gave it administrator rights, ran in different compatibility modes, and nothing has worked. Can you help me with getting this program to install correctly?
I've googled this problem and found one link with someone with the same problem but they never got it resolved
