yeah buddy! -204 C with the coolant in that thing, but I dont need all that do I?

Anyways, the idea is I'm converting this dohicky into one bad ass phase change setup. it's capacity is enourmous, and my FX57 isnt.

Here's the plan:

Cryotiger system primed with R134a

Swiftech 6000 series waterblock converted into a evaporator.

FX57 based system, DFI lanpart UT ultra, 2GB ram, 2.4 TB total drive space 6600GT in SLI

I found a few articles, I studied my old HVAC manuals. I think I can do this without killing myself.

Another idea is to use a water / Cryotiger system Pump Ethylene Glycol through it using a medium flow pump and 3/4" lines. Stuff nto meant for PC use of course.

Most of what i build will be from car parts and the like.

Anyone got an idea on this?

Pictures to come soon [tonight]

I am skeptical, what compressor do they use, and how much does this thing cost?

it uses it's own compressor, is often used to cool large telescopes and medical equipment, and cost about $28,000

EDIT

I have a pair of them too... one I might rip apart and use to retrofit my old fridge, they run on 100-280 volts, 8-6 amps

What a waste for cooling a computer.

OK, that is ridiculous. $28,000? Why on earth would you buy TWO?!?! I also looked at the brochure, and they only spec it out to cool heat sources generating up to 30 Watts. Generally a highly overclocked CPU reaches 200+ Watts. So I doubt this will work well. The way it is charged and tuned is not for high-power situations.

I paid $50 for the pair.

Again, I can re-tune the system for what I need. I can raise or lower it's capacity based on the coolant, wattage and tubes I have.

the Cryotiger is 3-4 times larger than your average phasechange system, it also has it's own cooling, it is the entire end of the thing, all I need is the evaporator block.

Again, this is a alot of modding, and making stuff go and do what it's not supposed too.

reading on many sites, slightly modded Cryotigers are hitting nitrogen colled levels.

I guess if you know what you are doing, go for it. Take a picture of the compressor so we can see it though.

Well, I hope I dont hit -204C I guess iS hould explain this better

Cryotiger = 8amp load

PC = FX57

Add PC + Cryotiger / Mod with custom evaporator and tuned lines to achive 200 watt cooling = 0c

Again, pictures will be up tonight... has no one ever built a phase chage before? This will be my first, but I've converted plenty of fridges and car AC units over and have a good understanding of how the system works. Going to have to head down to the local HVAC shop to get some.7" cap tube
What are you doing with the 2nd unit?

Wow that looks crazy. Good idea with those sinks all over the compressor and in the path of airflow. How do you plan on mounting that to the CPU?

Why not beef up the compressor and run helium in it. Helium has a boiling point of about 2-4 kelvin. Which is like -270c!

The idea is just to try...

I dont know what to do with the other unit, anyone want to buy it maybe?

I think these orginally ran helium, they are meant for use about 2K... I want to stick my FX right at 0C and see how she runs there, then go for death freeze on it p

The reason fo rthe 6600's... this rig was built to process huge data, it runs a CNC mill right now, but it's just easier to experiment on.

Very nice stuff you have going on there I know nothing about phase so I have no comments other than this, I wish I had one to play with to...
