Megahalems is dethroned!

Apparently, the Noctua Noctua NH-D14 is the new king of aircoolers. Is this true? Xbit labs stated

No doubt, Noctua NH-D14 is an excellent cooler starting with secure packaging and highly informative official web-site and ending with superb manufacture quality, highest performance and low noise levels. Obviously Noctua engineers paid attention to every single detail, every little trifle, which paid back big: their true work of art became the indisputably best cooling solution out there. That is why we are proud to award it with our Editor's Choice title as the best CPU air-cooler in the today's market.
If it really is the best, this changes my plans for my upcoming build. I was originally going to get the Megahalems. What I am wondering, though, is, will this require lapping? The megahalems is made with a completely smooth surface so that it requires no lapping at all, but is the Noctua designed this way as well?

Megahalems + San Aces FTW!

and the IFX never got a thread like this when it beat the TRUE and *cough* still holds a better temp than the mega.

Only with low-speed fans. With higher-speed fans, the Mega wins. I don't know what's so hard about that fact.

So, does the Noctua w/o lapping perform better than the Megahalems w/o lapping? What size fans need to go on the Noctua? Where do you get the fan clip to mount an additional fan on the Noctua? Do the fans on the Noctua need to be replaced to compete w/ a Megahalems?
Is the Megahalems still the best?
Overall, yes. To answer your previous questions, I have no idea, and won't until there's a thorough test done by a member here or at XtremeSystems.
From the tests Ive seen it has beaten the Mega and I have not seen one that shows the opposite but I guess some people need more time to deal with it.

+1 But Price/Performance Ratio = Megahalem Winnar!

No, I just have more trust in reviews done by people that use more realistic and thorough testing procedures, which you usually only get from members of overclocking forums like this one.

Hardly when you consider one comes with two nice quality fans and the other has none.

You get to choose your own fans with the other one, and I'd honestly do that than still have to get decent fans to replace the ones it comes with (it does, historically, actually help in Noctua's case, just not as much as with, say, the TRUE rev. A).

You can still sell the fans to recover some loss if you feel inclined to and if it performs that nice and silent, maybe there is no need to.
The point is, people keep making up excuses, size, price, etc...I actually feel some people do fall in love with their gear and hate for new stuff to be better. I love my Mugen 2 but I do not care if new stuff is out and better, that is a fact of life, in fact, I hope there is something better every day , that means we are progressing. Why would I want my heatsink to be the best for 1 year or whatever...that would be very sad

Yet the TRUE and IFX-14 were the best for... what, 2 years?

I still prefeer a "lapped" Thermalright IFX-14 with a "lapped" cpu, but a great welcome to this newcomer!
