Memory use with Windows 7 while gaming

Can someone do me a huge favor and tell me how much memory you're using usually while gaming on Windows 7? I'm upgrading my 4 rigs to Windows 7, but am thinking about only adding more memory to comp #1. We specifically play Company of Heroes 90% of the time right now on the other 3 comps, so if anyone can tell me their memory usage with that game it would be even better. If I can get away with 2 gigs on the other comps for awhile, I will. I use high settings, but any feedback will help!

Edit: Btw, no other applications will be open.

cant help much but when i played red alert 3 i think i got roughly 800mb to 1gb roughly if that, in fact i was able to play red alert 3, atlantica online, and i cant remeber the last game, but wasnt new anyways, soz i cant be much help, i would say u definetly can get away with 2gb's 7 only uses what it needs plus extra, then obviously gives it u back when somkething else needs it, ill do a run on this shoddy laptop and see what happeneds

seriously try the RC and see what happends, dont even need to activate it just install the game and see how it performs, this laptop can run it in high "Apparenty" and it only has a 9300m gpu 3gb ram and a T6400 @ 2.00GHz if this laptop can run it, yours will definetly run it efficently

i would advise using 64bit anyways, tbh dont realy matter 32bit key will work on 32 or 64 bit os's

You need to say how much you have now. But just a tip less than 2GB's. I don't have time to research and explain but everybody on here has way to much RAM unless doing some specialized app. Say for example Server or Data Base. Everyone on OCN is just e-peening.

4GB is more than enough, less is OK also.
It largely depends on the specific game and background processes.

2gb should cut it fine for just gaming on a 32 bit OS with little background processes.

I'm jumping to 64 bit Windows 7 and 3 of the computers have 2 gb each. Comp #1 will be fine as I'm upgrading it to 4 gbs. Do you think 2 gb is enough? It was for XP, but I'm unsure about Windows 7. I've heard it's a memory hog.

2GB is the minimum for gaming. 4gb is the happy point, and 6 gb doesn't give you much of a benefit over 4GB, especially for the price you'll pay to get there.
Running Crysis all very high settings 8xAA DX10 64-bit 1680x1050 and I'm using less than 1.5 GB. See the top right hand of attached screenshot.

I've seen Crysis (esp DX9), DDO, and STALKER all use 1500-1800 megs of ram themselves.

Windows 7 can page out a lot and use surprisingly little memory, but 2GiB might be cutting it close. You'll probably notice some sluggishness when loading levels or alt-tabbing, at least in more demanding games.

Rock on
That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a million and Rep for the assistance!

Glad to help. BTW, at desktop, RAM usage is around 1gb just surfing the net etc.

That's exactly what I don't want is page filing. It's not all that critical, though. I mean, if I have to order more memory I will, but I'd rather not if it's not needed. I'll stick with the 2 gbs for now and see how that goes. As far as alt tabbing, my friends can do that crap at home on their own time
