I got some of these powering 4 5830s and it's running solid. Also i had a board t hat only took a 4pin, just took a knife and cut it in half.

If you find him please let me know... I might solve my brother issue about using a corsair 400w psu with his new SB build until he get money to buy a good psu or if this one is decent maybe he'll grab it.

It doesnt matter, you can still plug it into a 4pin connector.

Not if the 8 pin does not split apart and there is a capacitor on the board where the overhanging 4 spare pins need to hang.
