Have you played the demo? If you like sitting back and watching your airplane fly on auto pilot, knock yourself out. Flight Simulator X does have some sweet features though like being able to set up in flight complications that have dyer after effects(fun, until you crash). This game does though have sweet graphics and realism to it if that is what you are looking for. If you want a game that you can learn how to fly airplanes better, get this game. Basically, this game is just another hyped-up flight simulator...same old....same old. I hope this will help your decision.

I tried it, but couldn't figure out how to release the parking brake. LOL
Too many keys to remember to properly fly it. I downloaded the demo and later deleted it.

It's a great game. I have had all the FS since 98, and every new edition improves ALOT.
You can be a traffic contoller(only on deluxe edition) , and they have now lots of real life cities reproduced in the game.
If you're a FS games person, you NEED to get this.
You will also need 15GB of HD space(hugest space required i've ever seen)

It does require a great rig though to get it to run at max graphics. Mine struggles...

Yeah I tried out the demo, loved it.
There are some tweaks out there to make FPS a whole lot better in this game, even at Medium this game looks stunning.

Here are some links that will help you increase your FPS.

http://members.cox.net/spambait/FSXTweakGuide.pdf

And another

Although, Auto-Gen takes a **** load out of your CPU and FPS, I'd recommend leaving it low to normal. Out of all the planes I've flown so far, I'd say the Cesna is the most 'noob' friendly.

Turned up crosswinds to 50knots And landed a Leerjet, tried to land in a cesna and it flipped over ahhaah.

This game like FS2004 was made for gamelife, it will last at least four years.
We haven't even seen this games true face, microsoft is working on the DX10 update for this game. They have a whole 10 months to make it so much better

Although at first this game can be daunting to the newbie, just give it a few shots. Get it in the air, swing her around and bring her back heading towards the runway, decrease the speed to idle, chuck the flaps on full, lower the landing gear and glide to the runway

I bought the full version, it has a learning centre where a virtual pilot (A Real World Acredited Flying Instructor) will guide you through the basics, such as taking off, flying, changing direction, landing, etc.

Cheers.

It's pretty cool with the graphics cranked all the way up. <1 FPS isn't cool. I need SLI'd 8800s and vista w/ dx10.

does the game have arcade mode? Where you dont have to learn 300 rudder/flap/brake/flip/switch/pull/push controls?

I have played the game myself, and I am a big fan of the FS series. However.... I wouldn't recommend that you buys this. At least not now.

The graphics for this game are too demanding. After tweaking the settings a lot, They still aren't very appealing. Not worth the $70, if you ask me. If were you, I would just get FS2004, unless you already have it, and download some new planes for it. You should be able to max everything out with 8XAA and 16XAF.
