Prevously on Intranets or VPN's the method of large data storage and retrieval was only produced via fibre optic channel if one wished performance.
Now a new standard has entered the fray to allow a performance interface for data storage on Intranet/VPN.
At this point in time though there is not a great difference between the two other than a proprietary networking protocol on fibre channel which thus demands singularity on the channel and an iscsi interface which is simply multi-network capable.
For the average computer user all this will be completed transparently (behind the scenes) in either protocol format.
