I want you guys that own dual gpu cards (295gtx, 5970, etc) and u guys that own dual video card systems (crossfireX or SLI) to please answer this poll, so we can see if microstutter really bothers anyone!

If u don't know what that is, or have some doubts about it, please check this great thread by Ihatethedukes, HERE.

This poll is independent of the fact that microstutter can happen with single GPUs as well, as shown on the thread I linked above. This is just to see if people that run multiple GPUs have noticed that problem or not (it may be there or not, and it may be there and make no difference on gameplay experience).

I tested my brothers 4870s and I experienced it. That kind of turn me down with my GTX 285 SLI option that I have thought of. He seems to experience it but not in all games. I found vantage was bad for it. Crysis had some microstuttering as well. It didn't happen in all games though.

I did a SLI test with 2 8800 GTX before as well and there it was. I tried different drivers but I don't think it's just a driver issue.

And how bad was it?
I saw some videos around on youtube but its kind of hard to judge from that.

Interesting to bring this up. Yes it does exist and in most cases is hardly noticeable (at least from my experience) my gtx295 does "suffer" from Microstutter but only in extremely stressing situations (FurMark shows signs of microstutter)
But couldn't this situation be avoided alltogether by adding an multi-gpu "host" framebuffer and having cards hooked in master/slave configurations. Each GPU would send its rendered result frames to the "host" gpu whose framebuffer would then keep things in sync. From the way I read it its currently pausing the primary GPU's work to insert its completed frame and then by the time the next frame is completed the current frame has been displaying "too long" - this is inefficient and could be solved with a very minimal processing chip IMO.

I wonder if MSI hydra has micro stutter problems?

ive had it. but it was that the xfire bridge was not making good contact with the cards. corrected issue and it stopped. i actualy found it by accident.

othertimes though it has been caused by drivers and dirty drivers installs.
i know some people have it and cant fix it. i hear that ssd also have something to do with it.

I've had:

HD5770 2 crossfire (1GB)
9800gt 2 SLI (512mb)
9800GX2 (512mb)

never had any stuttering problems...

well.... when the crap hits the fan, there is a minor problem with stuttering, but that happens on every card I've ever had. Once FPS is high, no stutter exists.

All at:
1024x768 (9800GX2)
1280x1024 (9800GX2)
1600x900 (HD5770xfire, 9800gt SLI, 9800GX2, GTX260... just one)
1920x1200 (9800GX2, HD5770 xfire)
2560x1024 (HD5770 xfire, Eyefinity) <-- this is where the problems start occuring, but only in crysis, with max settings, and no blur.

I've gotten what looks like little "ripples" in TF2 with xfire 5750 and 5770. It's just in the color though, not in the images itself... Other than that they work sexily.

I never noticed a single issue when I had GTX 285 SLI

tbh i havnt noticed micro-stutter since the 88xx/29xx/38xx days, or the very early days of the 4870 when i had 2 in crossfire.

if its still around it would be very minimal, not like it used to be where your frames could drop so bad they almost halved for a second or two.

Yeah, I heard that if your FPS is above your monitor refresh rate, it stops completely... or so "they" say.

well... I dunno.

I don't know if what I had counted as microstuttering, as even my GTX260 had it (in Crysis, and CoDWaW) vs my 9800gt SLI setup, but only at max settings (texture, especially) on my1920x1200 display.

I am having microstutter with my trifire setup in crysis, crysis warhead, and far cry 2 so far. I can say it's really annoying that i cant enjoy playing these games. FPS above 100 but games perform like the fps was <20. there is lag and flickering in crysis...oh man.

hopefully newer driver will overcome this problem soon.

Sorry to hear it, man!
