Mid Sized ATX Tower vs Full Sized ATX Tower

1293 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Komder
Say I've got a mid sized ATX tower and have all of my computer components up and running in it. I now switch all of the components into a full sized ATX tower. Which is more efficient for optimal airflow?

I would think that the full sized ATX tower would allow for the heat from the components to dissipate a bit easier, since there is much more room to breath inside the larger tower, but it also seems like the mid sized ATX tower would allow for the computer case fans to be closer to the components from the back and front of the case, thus the air intake and outtake is closer to the components...

What are your thoughts on optimal tower size?

doesnt really matter...
HMMM ? I think the bigger the case is , it will allow for better cable managment/placement+ equals less crowding giving it better air flow! Bigger case equals more room/ less crowding and better air flow! ( correct me if im wrong) but both should be about the same if done right!
...I think it should be about the same...I like mid tower though...less empty space = looks nicer...but that's just personal preference
Also, mid towers these days are pretty big (Corsair 600T/650D, Silverstone FTo2)

600t/650d/Ft02/Rv02 are classified as mid towers but in reality they are the size of full towers.

IMO it really depends on your components. I have a CM690II and 6 HDDs and 1 Optical with a 6950, Scythe Mugen2 and they fit perfectly and air flow is also good because of proper cable management and fan placement. I have 3 intakes, 1 front, 1 side and 1 bottom and 3 exhaust 2 at the top and 1 at the rear...and 1 aux fan on front of my HDDs to push air from the HDDs to the inside of the case to be exhausted up top...so IMO it really depends on your components. It works for me...dunno for others...

Close to...I would say in between the two...HAF X is 5 cm taller than FTo2...on the other hand FTo2 is an inch wider
