Hey OCN, finally got my AVIOR. Here are some pics and some first impressions. When I get around to it later this week, I'll shoot a review video.

I'll just start out by saying this mouse is very exciting. It may possibly be the best mouse on the market right now, overall. It has pretty much the perfect shape for almost anyone and best overall sensor right now and almost perfect software all in one package, combined with great build quality at a reasonable price, considering.

The shape is unique, and possibly more comfy than the Sensei I had before. The first thing you notice when you hold it for the first time is how far forward the scroll wheel is. This mouse is meant to dig into your palm more, or to be clawed. It works great, but it's just something that I didn't notice with other mice I've had in the past.

The second thing you notice about this mouse is the shape of the sides and how unique that is as well. I think it's brilliant how the back manages to go from a / \ shape to the front going in a pronounced \ / shape. This is a lot more comfortable I find, and my ring and pinky still have breathing room on the right side of the mouse, whereas on the Taipan they are very constricted. This is an awesome shape, and I really like it. The clicks are equally amazing. Responsive, without play, nice sound, nice tactile feedback, all the way around on every switch, even the CPI changing buttons.

I can't comment on the sensor performance at this time, as I'm still in the research lab doing "research" here, but man oh man this is about as close to perfect as I've felt for a gaming mouse yet. The test I did do was with DIMR, and it shows an ULTRA stable 1019 Hz average. It doesn't bounce or stutter at ALL like a lot of other mice. Tracking smoothness I would predict should be incredible as a result. I will also say I did run into the CPI switching bug where if you're on the top CPI step and you try to increase the CPI again, the mouse just stops working until you unplug and plug it back in. Whoever was offering to give me the beta firmware for this device, could you provide a link again? I'd like to try it as long as there are no other drawbacks to it.

Enotus and Paint tests to come.

EDIT1:

Some thoughts after my first session of FPS play with the device.

The shape makes hours of play effortless, the feet are large but better and smoother gliding than any other mouse I've ever used, and the sensor is impossibly perfect. Even the scroll wheel feels just right. Really impressed. About the only things I'd change would be the ability for the software to enable a profile automatically upon starting a game and restoring back when the game is exited, LED indicators for current CPI on the mouse like on the NAOS 8200, and the ability to switch between up to 5 different DPI values instead of only 3. Also onboard memory sufficient to store all 5 full profiles onto the mouse for use on the go with a switching button on the bottom of the mouse or an LCD display there to customize driverlessly would be awesome. For me personally I feel the wheel would also benefit from a move toward the aft of the mouse by a couple mm. I can't think of anything else I'd want here. These are all non-essential improvements for the most part and the device is incredible as it is. Just need that beta firmware.

EDIT 2:

Full Review:

EDIT 3:

Link to beta firmware so that anyone who purchases the mouse can immediately use it without the CPI up spam -> locked mouse bug happening to them. It is 100% stable, I've been using it for some time now.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vks2p1cgkvmtuhn/AVIOR7000_fw_2.34.zip

Installation instructions:

1: Make sure the mouse is unplugged from your USB port.

2: Hold down the right mouse button, left mouse button and the scrollwheel button at the same time and continue to hold while plugging the mouse into a USB port. If you want to be safest, use a USB 2.0 port.

3: The logo LED and the scroll wheel LED of the mouse should now be blinking.

4: Run the firmware update software. That's it. Enjoy.

EDIT 4:

Acceleration test. Very raw, uncut footage with lots of human error.

EDIT 5:

The acceleration test is still accurate. I'm just not very consistent with swiping, my 3090 mice (FK and G400) both act the same way.

Thought I would also add this Mionix video by Tek Syndicate where they reveal some very useful information about the brand and especially their mice.

EDIT 6:

Firmware 3.08 pre-release. Have discovered no bugs in regular use, and fixes some issues with the mouse not working between restarts and sleep/resumes. Also reduces smoothing and also appears to properly interpolate above 5000 CPI now.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a2w59j0079psi5t/AVIOR7000%20firmware%20version%20V3.08.zip?dl=0

EDIT 7:

3.08 appears to have some kind of strange issue where profile 3 is always selected after unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in.

Apparently there are new test firmwares on the way according to Mionix, but I haven't received them yet. Will update the OP again if/when I get them.

EDIT 8:

Test firmware 3.38: https://www.dropbox.com/s/732egm00uk9svfx/AVIOR7000%20firmware%20version%20V3.38.rar?dl=0

Please note that Mionix specifically says that some driver features may not work correctly as this is just a quick test firmware that was rushed out, for TEST ONLY. The purpose of this firmware is to eliminate smoothing from what I've been told.

Direct copy/paste from an email: "Some software features might not work but the smoothing issue should now be fixed."

EDIT 9:

Optimal mousepads.

Hard mats tend to increase LOD significantly on this mouse. Stick with cloth.

Some QcK Mini/QcK/QcK Mass/QcK+/QcK Heavy surface users have reported low malfunction speeds. I would stay away from this pad series.

PureTrak Talent, Goliathus, etc. all work fine.

Do NOT use the current SARGAS line from Mionix. This pad also causes a high LOD and frays quickly. No clue why. A new version is expected to come out soon.

It definitely is a sick mouse. The left and right clicks are the best I've ever felt.

I don't use it atm but that's because my grip is really abnormal and I can't get myself to change it. If the shape is right for you it's almost a flawless mouse.

That's interesting because I felt almost any traditional claw or fingertip or palm grip would actually work fine. You must have a truly unique grip.

I'll be receiving mine tomorrow afternoon. I've already got the Mionix Naos 7000, so I know what to expect from the sensor, but I'm excited to get a smaller form factor.

For whatever reason I hold the mouse at a \\ angle even though my hand is straight. So to draw a horizontal straight line on screen I move the mouse diagonal up and right. I've tried to fix it but I always end up reverting automatically. I didn't hate the Avior shape for my grip, just didn't love it either. I imagine the Naos would force me to change to a normal grip but it looks really bulky and I don't want to get stuck with one mouse forever.

Unfortunately no. If anyone wants to send me one so I can review it and compare it, I'd be happy to. Or if someone wants to sell me one for a reasonable price I can add it to my collection. Though I think it would be a little small for me and that I'd prefer an AM.

What mouse pad are you using metal and what are your thoughts on it with the Avior 7000? I've got the Naos 7000 here with the Artisan Hayate and they are great together (feels fantastic, 10/10 on the surface analyzer), but I get these little snags sometimes that annoy me and I want something a little bigger. I have the Avior 7000 coming later today and am hoping it's a better fit for my grip style (basically finger-tip).

What do you mean little snags? I'm using the same combo as you and have never had a snagging issue with the Hayate.

Not sure how to explain it... like the feet are rubbing up against some of the grain of the pad that has come up? You can actually hear it, sounds like hitting a rough spot on the pad where some of the texture is loosening. It makes a scratching noise. It might be dust, too. I've tried cleaning the pad both by washing and even pulled out the vacuum to see if I couldn't get some of the dust off, but didn't make much of a difference.

As far as this input lag/smoothing business... I will say initially I felt like it was a HAIR less responsive than my Savu but it was so minor as to possibly be placebo. Now, I don't perceive any input lag. I imagine the Avior will feel identical in terms of sensor performance when it shows up later.

Interesting. I can see that issue with the Hein, as it's a touch rougher, but my Hayate is pretty smooth. It is new, though. Maybe some wear in will cause this to happen to me as well.

It works great with both my Goliathus Alpha Control Edition (2nd get, anti-fray, fragged logo) and my QcK Heavy. Tracks as well as any 3310 on these surfaces with a nice low LOD and 5.3-5.4 m/s, confirmed with Enotus. Good stuff.

The DPI up button, when spammed, still locks the mouse. I am in touch with the company right now and tomorrow they should be sending me a beta firmware to correct it.

Glad I saw this post. Been actually eyeing this mouse out for a while to replace my legendary MX518. Now that it's finally hit the dust, I'll likely be purchasing later this week. Hopefully it works well with my QcK mousepad as well. I'll chime in and give my two cents whenever I receive it and put to use in-game.

If it doesn't suit you, you might want to wait until Roccat releases their Kone XTD optical mouse sometime in Q2-Q3 of this year, which has the same sensor as the naos 7000. The Kone's shape is kinda similar to the MX518/G400.

Yeah, some of the Roccat mouses definitely piqued my interest. Will definitely keep an eye on that, thanks.

Would be interesting to compare this one with the Steelseries Rival.

They do have the same sensor but I'm about to change to the Mionix because the software offers a lot more that the sensor is capable of.

I already contacted the Steelseries Support when I can expect them to add all the features like mionix already has. Since now no reply.

If this mouse is better than the Rival I think I'll change.

I'll be able to speak on this after tonight when I receive my Avior. I'm currently using a Rival, and love it. I'm just a sucker for new and ambi mice.

Just curious why you're looking at the Avior and not the G400? I'd love to use my G400, but I just can't get used to the shape. The sensor is brilliant, but the lip on the right side just doesn't fit my grip style at all.

Hi End0rphine, from what I read, guess on Roccat thread, the new Roccat kone xtd optical is going to have a 3090 sensor :-(
only the Roccat kone pure are going to have the 3310...
But maybe they changed their minds?

Are you sure? I've never seen the 3090 reach 6400 DPI... Would figure it to be cheaper to just buy one optical (3310) in bulk rather than use both.

I have a QcK Heavy and a QcK Mini. Works great on that surface. Ultra low lift off distance and you can then lower the LOD to minimum in the drivers to make it stupidly low with full performance 5.3 m/s tracking. You won't have any issues. In fact I think you'll be nothing short of amazed. I used to have a 518, man that's old school. Time for you to experience up to 5.4 m/s and 1000 Hz at 5000 CPI native.

Definitely light. Lighter than the Rival or Sensei for sure. Probably not as light as a WMO though. Unfortunately I don't have a scale on hand. The size is likely a tad bigger than a Zowie but also not as big as a Sensei.

You are right on the money. That's why I bought this mouse, I had the Rival before but felt too limited. This is miles better. Don't even think twice. I literally just gave my ex gf the Rival after buying this LOL

Just keep in mind the Avior still has a higher performance sensor.
