Why is that microsoft has to makes thing harder. Now everytime I install windows, I have to call their stupid customer support to activate my windows, because I get a message saying that my copy of windows has reached it activation limit or something. Now I wouldn't mind this message if I had installed it quite a numerous number of times, but I got this mesage after the first time I installed windows. I just bought it like a couple months ago, and installed it on my computer, everything worked great. Well I had to reformat, and thats when I had to call to get it activated, and then when I installed it on a laptop I bought from a friend, had to do the same thing, and now I am having to do i on the computer I am installing it on right now. Now its not a pain when I call them, I give them the like 35 digit number activation code, and then they just give me another one, bu they always has why I am installing windows, and for some reason it is always some indian lady, have nothing againist them, but the last time I called, the lady kept asking me question, like what state I lived in, and how the weather was, if it was hot, and how my day was going and what not, thats nice and all, but I am calling to activate my windows, not talk to someone I don't know, maybe that is just me. Do you have to go through all of this when you buy the OEM version of windows??

Ok, I think I am done, just wanting to spread how I hate having to activate windows.

Agreed. I think the OEM version doesn't have WPA. You know, M$ is really asking for it. It's much easier to apply a little patch than call them and talk to someone who I can barely understand. When they talk they have to spell out alot of words:
A as in apple, O as in Oscar, 1, 3, Z as in Z as in Zachary, dash, ...
Keygen:
AO13Z-
(not a real S/N, just made it up)
Nothing against Indians either, but I'd like to be able to understand them well. That's [one of the reasons] why I hated that one teacher of mine who could barely speak English (and my Spanish-speaking classmates said that he couldn't speak Spanish well either). :swearing:

the reason you are getting an indian lady is because all most all companies call centers are based out of india where the labor is cheap. I got 4 installs of windows before it started making me call it in, and it definatly is a pain.

How many computers have you installed it on? I've installed mine over 20 times on the same machine before I got the message to call in.

Calling their activation line takes all of 2 mins and it's a 800 number. I understand the people in India better than I can understand the schmucks who do my internet support. At least the people from india don't have a southern drawl and say weird non-existant words like aint and yall.

I have installed it twice on my main one, and am installing it on another right now, but it told it had been activated to many times, after the FIRST install, which is bs IMO. The patch thing I know about, but I mean i payed money for this, so I don't want to "rig" it. I know it takes like a couple of mins. when I call them, but its still annoying, I mean you pay for the freakin thing, it should work, I shouldn't have to call everytime.

I know they are based in India and crap but still, it gets annoying. I will have to say though that the company with the worst customer support would Linksys, a bunch of Indian guys who read the crap off a screen of what to do. I remember one time I called with a problem, and they kept telling me to do the same crap over and over, which I already know how to do, and had already done before I called, and I told him that a few times, but he was like, well lets try it again, and I said its not gonna work, but I guess that rant is for another thread.

Microsoft doesn't care that you paid for their software and as a customer should be convenienced. After all, what are you going to do, use another OS company? Oh, no, you're not, because there isn't one... How about using Linux then? Yeah, that'll work, if you don't mind learning to use an OS that was built for the open-source community, not the average PC user... Who wants out-of-box compatibility with games anyway? Not Linux users it would seem...

The bottom line is that MS doesn't have to treat their customers well, because 90% of their customers cant use anything thing else and most of the 10% that can, don't want to because of the compatibility issues and other hassles involved...

This is what being a customer of a monopoly is like. They don't need you, you need them, so they do things to benefit and convenience them, not you...

Perhaps people should consider a political petition to break the monopoly and allow more OS software companies into the market. If successful, there would be a transitional stage of difficulty, but afterwards you'll be treated like you are important and your convenience will be made a priority by at least one of the companies that will then exist...

Highly-Annoyed

Well I know linux alittle, and would have no problem using it, but then I would have to go back and redo everything on my hard drives and I don't feel like doing that.

Maybe some people here should get together and make an OS. I know The Jester has been working on making a linux distro.
