MoBo problem?

598 Views 14 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  pyr0m1
I cannot boot while I have ANY USB device plugged in (keyboard, mouse, etc); I can't even get to the POST screen (but it does beep).

There are no problems if I start with a PS/2 keyboard, and then plug in my mouse and "real" keyboard after that one screen.

My computer makes a noise (HDD searching?) before it goes to the POST screen.

(When I replaced my MoBo etc, I wiped my drives and started over, and everything's installed properly (HW and SW).)

Take the USB things out, go into BIOS and disable USB boot.
K I'll try that.

Thanks
Still doesn't work...

EDIT: Boot other device is disabled, boot order is HD, CD, Floppy
I flashed the BIOS last night, hoping that that would solve the problem.

I installed the MoBo yesterday. EDIT: It arrived from Newegg the day before
So, you have the latest MB drivers.
Is "USB Keyboard On" in the Bios?

I didn't see anything along those lines, gimme a sec to look again.
There is no option for that in the BIOS.
does it say anything when you boot up.?
when you have usb plugged in?
On the first screen, it says "press <tab> to view post screen" and "press for setup", as well as BIOSTAR with the logo.

If I have a USB device plugged in, it doesn't go any further; if I don't, it makes a noise and boots up.
Have you tried looking through the FAQ at the Biostar website?

If there aren't any USB settings in the Bios and your USB devices work, I would start suspecting the MB.
Didn't mention it at biostar.com.tw in the FAQ.

The board doesn't show up in biostar.com (fired a ? off to tech support anyway).

Should I just RMA the board then (to NewEgg, thank God)?
Your USB devices are good? Do they work with other systems during startup?
Other than that what else can you do?
It has to be Bios oriented. I guess you have to send the board back...

They work fine when I'm not booting, and fine in other comps at any other time.

I guess I'll have to get an RMA.

Thanks for your help.
