[TB13]

Hello OCN, I am new to the custom watercooling world and this is my first attempt at water cooling on a serious budget. So a while back I bought a H40 that turned out to be a dud so I tried to mod it and fix it, but I ended up breaking it. I was going through my parts drawer the other day and saw it and decided to make something of it, that is how this was born. Here is what it consists of:

MCP355 with MCP35x top
Koolance 1/4id barbs, one right angle
degutted H40 pump/block
H40 Rad
5ft of 1/4id clear tube
Some zip ties
Pill bottle
random barbs from Ace Hardware
Antec LED fan

Here are my temps at stock clocks (ambient is 80*F)



And here is it at 4.2 using the auto feature in the BIOS



And finally what it looks like, sorry for the really bad picture, my room is really dark



Its not going to stay like this forever, but I am pretty please with it right now, what do you guys think?

Only thing I'd be worried about is that pill bottle depositing plastic over time as it corrodes.. maybe I'm wrong?

How did you manage to de-gutt the H40?

Is that rag folded under your cpu water block there for a reason? I hope it isnt leaking. Anyways, I think it is really neat and creative. Not many people can say they have an ibuprofen bottle in their pc.

What prime test is that? Have you run small fft's? (that one shows my max temp in no time)

I've never heard of plastic doing that, but its not going to be like this for very long.

Thanks! I just pulled it apart and took the impeller and the motor assembly out.

The paper towel is there just in case it leaks, which it did... I am fixing it right now.

Thanks! It was the blend test. I will her some more temps when I get it fixed.

Alright, I'm back. I reconfigured the loop as a closed loops so I don't have to use the pill bottle res anymore. Here are the results from a few minutes of Prime with the small fft test, the temps seem to have gone up a bit because of the lack out a res



And here is what it looks like:

Okay, so I went ahead and overclocked my cpu manually to 4GHz with 1.10 volts and I am really happy with the temps now. This is after about 15min of prime95 with the ambient temperature about 81*F



I wasn't really happy with the 4.2GHz themperatures, but it turns out it was running hot because of the voltage, the bios put it at 1.35 volts for 4.2GHz

With the voltage at 1.10 it is running ~20c cooler which is crazy.
