Modern Warfare 2 NAT Strict Help

5037 Views 23 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  MOCAMBO
Ok so I portforwarded all the xbox live ports, tried DMZ-ing my xbox 360's ip and still my NAT is strict and I'm having trouble joining people's games.

Can anyone help?

I have a Netgear WGR614v6 Router.

Thanks

I've had this issue on PC along with a friend... Just seem to sort its self out though. So sorry, I can't be of any help.
Same problem here. I tried to look into my router settings but was never successful at finding it.
My buddy had the same issue dmz didnt work and neither did opening the ports, are you on DSL? what he had to do was log into his modem and change his ip from privet to public.

Do you have more info on how I can go about logging into my modem though?

Thanks

EDIT: Damn I didn't see it was Xbox

Are you getting Strict NAT to Xbox live at all?

what type of modem is it? usually you would just need to open IE and type in the gateway IP and it will prompt for a user/pass...or will let you into the modem, but in order to do anything you would need to type the admin pw for the modem.

after you portforward try restarting everything. Unplug your modem and router for 10-15 seconds and then plug them back in.

I believe you have to enable UPnP to get the NAT open.

Yes, UPnP and Port Forwarding both need to be enabled.
Your XBOX IP shouldn't change seeing as it doesn't renew it's lease. As long as it's always plugged into the same port on the router, then you would just need to do UPnP and Port Forwarding.

look on the bottom of the modem and it should give you a address that you will need to type into the url in your browser, google your modem for user name and password. also post your modems model# here so i can also help look for answers.

I cant seem to find Upnp forwarding on my router.

Gah this is so frustrating.

Edit Upnp forwarding has always been enabled.

Should I change the Advertisement period and/or time to live?
Ok so I have Thomspon ST516 v6 Modem . No where does it give me any info on login info or anything, just sin , mac addresses nd stuff.
oh wow. that thing is configured through telnet. no gui app.

best bet is to review this:
http://www.thomsonbroadbandpartner.c...le.php?id=4863

Page 664 tells you what command enables UPnP
^^ you sure there is not GUI app?

The modems Adress is: http://192.168.1.254
User should be admin
Password should be admin

There should be a section in there for applications and gaming and in there you should be able to set new rules and ports for xbox live.

Here are some sites i have been reading, Click, Click

one guy said the ST516 is a modem + router so you may want to set the modem into a bridge mode and let your router handel the ppoe, Please be catious when messing around with settings

This problem only comes up with ADSL, damn I hate those crap modems. When I changed service providers and received my new modem, the NAT problem went away, however I never managed to fix the problem with the previous provider, opening ports, enabling UPnP didn't fix the problem, and turning on DMZ was impossible to figure out.

Ahh jeez. You guys think it would be a better option to buy a new modem?
I have a Linksys router but I set MTU to manual and the size from 1500 to 1350.

If you have any option like that I'd try it.
