Hello all, Today I am helping all of you hardcore modders that sleeve your PSU and want new connectors to replace the ones you removed. Or, if you just want to change colors from that old white or natural connectors to black. Here I'm going to foucus on BLACK connectors ONLY unless otherwise noted. This IS NOT a pinout guide, if you need one of those, look here: OCN Pinouts and Wiring

Most of the connectors belong to the Molex Mini-Fit Jr. Series. SATA and Auxilery (Molex, IDE, 4-pin, Accessory) are NOT part of the Mini-Fit Jr. Series though.

Please note: Molex uses the "Glow-Wire" brand/name on all these black connectors. Don't be concerend, it IS what you want. Also note that the images are for illustratioin only and are NOT necessarily the Molex brand one. I only use Molex connectors though. The images on the Molex page are stock images of one connector in the series. In order to find what you want on the Molex site, you NEED to read the connector description, Dimensions, and Circuit numbers. Circuit number = number of pins. Mate is the Crimp Housing (Basiacally what is used on extension cables) of the product. Crimp housing is what you use Molex CRIMP terminals in. Crimp terminals/housings are what come on stock PSU's.

Other Information to know:
  • Square/Rectangular Connectors:
    Mini-Fit Jr.
  • Fan 3, 4, 5 pin Fan/ CPU Fan connectors:

I will update this as I find appropriate connectors and more Molex parts and standards. If you know some of the missing items or find an error, please PM me so I can correct it, DO NOT post in the forum as that can lead to confusion. I WILL edit this post if your information is valid and better suited than the item I listed.

If you want to purchase these connectors, My recommendation of choice for 'just a few' is:
http://en.mdpc-x.com

Tell 'em puttsy sent ya!

Many other places to source these parts from require large orders, If they have no minimum order limit, it is not uncommon for your order to get 'lost'. But to be fair Anymore I bulk order my connectors, but small orders can sometimes be a pain, or not accepted at all.

Okay, this topic is now going to be connector BRANDS and manufacturers with part numbers. I contacted Molex looking for black disk drive connectors and here is their response:
Quote:
Dear My Name, My Business :

Thank you for contacting Molex.

Unfortunately, the 2.50mm pitch connectors are not available in a black color, and only available in natural colored nylon.

The same is true for the disk drive power connectors. They are only available in natural colored nylon. Additionally, we only make the female side in a crimp contact, and the male side is made to go on a board only. There is no wire option.

Reserved for product numbers

Molex Application Tooling:
Mini-Fit Jr. Extraction tool:
Series: T0201
Part #: 0011030044

Molex Crimp Housing Tool:
Series: T0815
Part #: 0638111000

More on the crimp tool to come. I'll try and find you all a cheaper one.

^You know, the one sold for a premium at all those modding shops. They aren't much cheaper direct as a reseller either though.

Let me know if you guys even find this worth while to post. I figure so since I'm researching the parts anyway and am hoping some people will use it (and save a heck of amount of time)

I am planning on switching to a focus on Tyco Electronics (TE) brand connectors since Molex does not offer a full featured line. I will leave the Molex information because their connector are the original and, in my opinion, the best in their category.

I have a Molex product catalog and a Tyco Electonics catalog on the way. If anyone want page numbers for these catalogs/connectors, just ask and I'll see if I can find them. If you're in the industry and want reseller catalog page numbers, let me know that as well. (I won't list the companies names. I don't want them to get flooded with consumer requests for professional catalogs. Trust me, those catalogs are NOT read-and-ponder catalogs; strictly for reference)

If you have a connector brand preference, please let me know YOUR choice so I can credit those companies as well.

I have been looking for these part numbers for ages. I contacted molex with a photo of the back of my PSU and the best they could come up with was... call Corsair or, "why not buy one of each to see which one it is." I tried calling Corsair but got nowhere.

I am still searching for the 8 pin PCI-E part number.

Speaking of molex's and pins, I'm going to be adding in some wiring and led's with a standard 4 pin molex. Does anyone happen to know what those terminal pin sizes are? I keep seeing .062 and .093. The .092 says is for 14-20 ga wire, from what my pc looks like is most of the wiring on the power supply cables are all 18 ga so I am guessing .093 terminal pins.

Am I correct on this?

This is an old thread but looks like some great info. I'm looking for parts for my own custom pci-e 8 pin cables for my GPU. Just need to find the right parts.

I these would be the correct housings although mouser.com shows them backordered with a ship date of July 2, 2108. I need them within the week.

Molex
Mfr. #: 39-01-2080

I'm not completely certain with the female terminals. Maybe these but since I am running 16awg wire I might need something else.

Molex
Mfr. #: 39-00-0060

16awg terminals - any of these?
