Hi,

I recently completed a build and have this strange issue with my monitor that I can't figure out.

After sleep, the top half of the monitor looks like its flickers whenever I open a new window, scroll a browser or have anything the requires a refresh. Nothing happens when just looking at desktop or static image. I don't know what to really call it so I uploaded a video of my monitor. I found a the refreshes the way I need it to so I can record the effect well: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=875A6A937E62C074!234589&authkey=!AL_v-hNSrBBV_Ro&ithint=video%2cmp4

Here is my PC Hardware and Stats: http://valid.x86.fr/csdxpd

Thanks for any help on this. Even if you can tell me specifically what it called the thing that happening to my screen so that I can research it further, it would be very helpful;.

It usually goes away after a while, or instantly if I restart. It's mostly visible on browsers or Windows Explorers, but when I watch a movie or play a game it disappears right away (until I close the game/movie or restart PC after the initial wake from sleep). Here is a strange recording proving it stops flickering just by playing a video and then starts flickering again a few seconds after pausing it: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=875A6A937E62C074!234591&authkey=!ALXZEU7vfocelVs&ithint=video%2cmp4

Thanks for the tip! I did have this latter driver recently installed but I just installed it on top of the old one without uninstalling the older one. This time, I tried it using the nice tool you linked...

What I can confirm after my testing is that the issue is definitely in the driver (both latest and previous that I had). When I uninstalled the driver completely, It all started to work beautifully (except games of course). The flickering disappeared after sleeping and I did not have similar issues as before.

Also, in my testing on testufo.com, my screen refresh rate was now 60Hz instead of 50Hz, the Frame Rate was 60 ftp instead of 50ftp and the Pixels Per Sec were 300 instead of 250. So uninstalling the AMD Radeon Driver and Software increased the refresh rate and fixed the issue. See screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/CWxoMgVZkHHe

Obviously, I will need to reinstall the driver if I want to use the graphics card fro anything except viewing my monitor, so does the troubleshooting above say anything about what I can do to fix or configure the driver to work properly, or is it just an issue with that specific version and I will need to try future versions to see if my issue is fixed (btw, also just logged this as an issue with AMD)?

--- EDIT: I just tried to completely uninstall all the drivers/software again and reinstall ONLY the driver without the HDMI Audi Driver, ACP Applications, AMD Settings, AMD Settings Branding, and AMD Gaming Evolved App. However, the results were the same.

I'd start by uninstalling your graphics drivers via the Catalyst/Radeon utility, then clean them out with DDU:

And install 16.1, which fixed alot of issues:

It's fixed!

It looks like the issue was pretty simple. The drivers set the default screen refresh rate to 50Herts instead of 60 and that's was causing the flickering. Although, shouldn't my monitor support 50 Herts and hence should the driver support it ? Anyway, here is where I changed the setting: http://screencast.com/t/pVidO92XG

Ya, there's not even a refresh rate option in the new Radeon Settings UI.

Glad it's fixed though.

Doh, just woke up PC from sleep mode and noticed the issue is not 100% fixed. There are still flickers and jitters on the desktop if I open a window and drag it around the screen. The desktop icons just jump up and down while I move the window. This affect goes away after a few minutes so no restart is needed. This is also not related to the previous issue of the Driver changing the settings to 50 Herts because all was set at 60 when I checked. I guess I should look out for future drivers and see fi that fixes anything.
