So I've been meaning to get a new monitor for a while now, but the last time I kind of knew what was going on with the world was in like 2011 haha.
My price range is around $300, though I may be able to increase it a little if there's something too tempting just beyond that. I was told to investigate IPS screens at the time and recommended this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260047
In all honesty, I can't say that I'm aware of all of the factors that need to go into monitor selection. I watch movies and tv, play games, and do a little reading on my computer. I sit decently close to the monitor (there's pretty much just room for my keyboard in between), though I would like to be able to sit on my couch a few feet away and watch a movie occasionally. My monitor now is 23" and I would prefer not to go under that, over if possible, but I suppose priority wise the image itself would come first. Color accuracy, resolution, and input lag seem important, but I won't pretend that I have a heightened sense to be able to detect any deficiencies in any of these departments.
That being said, I would still prefer to get the best for my money as opposed to just getting what is assumed I'll be able to notice (only to realize later that the picture looks worse on the new monitor).
And just in case you're too lazy/unable to look down at my sig, I'm currently using a Samsung SyncMaster 2343 which has a resolution of 2048x1152 (which makes it 16:9 I believe) haha
Thanks!
