Ok, so now I have burned Ubuntu 6.06.1 Desktop i386 and Xubuntu 6.06.1 Desktop i386 onto CD's using the bundled CD Pro XP3 and followed all instructions from Ubuntu.com for how to burn the ISO.

Here's my problem, I tried BOTH Cd's in my laptop's CD-ROM and NEITHER of them booted into a linux setup or anything. Win2000 booted normally.

What am I missing here?!?!

Change the boot order in the lappy's BIOS.

I will try that, but in the past the BIOS has been completely shunted from user access so I don't know how that will go...

But do I have everything right with just burning the ISO onto the disc with the specified writer?

Alright, now I got Xubuntu to do a LiveCD startup on my lappy. but how do I configure Linux to work with my wireless network now?

I'm not quite sure if I want to install Xubuntu yet, so I want to play around with it a bit first, but I don't even know where to start...

any help is appreciated
