My NAS when I only had one SSD + one HDD (and no 10 GbE NIC) was pulling <30w measured from the wall, it's a G5500 + Z390 board. Semi-bragged in the ban thread about it.

was with OCed B-Die too.

now it's got 3x drives in RAID 0 and a 4th drive as a backup along with an NVME boot drive and it idles in the mid 50s and even when writing to the array I've never seen it over 90w.

It's not passive but it could be. ¯\(ツ)

... why not just get something in the Asustor line?

I'm only familiar with the 10 GbE AS400T flavor but they have others that are cheaper, but the AS400T is a 4 bay with 10 GbE and 2x 1 GbE for ~$300. The other models vary but all but the cheapest ones have >1 and most have USB 3.0 so you could just go with a USB NIC if you're okay with the overhead woes going through USB.

They use either Intel Celerons or Marvell Armada CPUs depending on the model. Probably not going to get much lower in power consumption numbers than them.
