How powerful would this combo be?
Wouldnt this be more powerful than the Nvidia 7950GX2?

Way more powerful than a SINGLE 7950GX2. A single X1950XTX lags about 20% behind the 7950GX2, thus in Crossfire, it will be much faster. In many cases, teh pair will outperform Quad Crossfire (but then again, a pair of 7900GTXs does that also)

Yes more powerful than a 7950GX2, but more powerful than 2 of them, eh, maybe. And even if it is the "most powerful" that will last until the minute the first G80 is released.

Just have him wait till November 7th and get 1 G80, it'll be faster than both those cards in crossfire. And about 600$ cheaper.

Any proof that it will be *that* much faster?

my outlook on it is that if it needs as much power as everybody says it needs, and it as big as it is. . .there has to be a significant increase. They didnt put just a PCIE and molex power conectors but two PCIE connectors. . . thats double the potential power usage. unless they're using less efficient hardware i think it must be better.

The G80s will destroy any current card in the industry. I am believing some rumours of 12k 3dmark scores. And the R600 will be even more powerful. Its how this industry works people. What is 6800GT SLI now anyway? POOOP.

Hardly. What describes poop in your book? Not something that costs $500?

A 6800GT is roughly equivalent to my card, a 7600GT and I can say for the price its unstoppable. Sure, i could have gotten a better card possibly, but why spend over $70 more for such small changes in FPS? It plays games maxed out, and I bet if I got 2 gigs of ram it would do 1280x1024 maxed out on games.

I mena poop as in compared to the 7900GT. My point is, than two 7900GTs in SLI won't be able to keep up with an 8800GTX...thats how the trend has been.

6800GT's in SLI were still competative to a 7800GTX in benchmarks, maybe just a few FPS behind, and a 7900GT has roughly a 7800GTX power.

In any case, dont buy the cards if you dont have the monitor. A pair of cards are useless without 1600x1200 (given they are "high end"). With those 1950's I think we are talking like 2580x1920 (I think thats the res.)

Too bad the crossfire card only has a memory clock of 1.55ghz. I think that would kinda limit it, no?
