Ok, as ive been building my new i7 rig, i decided to take my 8800gtx out of here and ive received another 8800gtx and im going to run them sli in my new i7, so i have to get another gpu for this q6600 rig see my sig. I can't decide on what gpu to go with as im going to mostly be using it for folding. I want the best ppd i can get for the dollar. Trying to stay under $200 if i can. Im not sure if i should go with an ati card on this abit ip35 pro as i can crossfire on it but can't sli. Ive found some good deals on a 3870x2 and some 4850. Also found a good deal on a 9800gtx+. Found a gtx 260 core 216 right at 210 but that is pushing it. I really need some input on what card or cards i should go with on this rig to get the most out of my ppd for the cheapest any and all help is very much appreciated.
P.S. Please list any cards that i haven't got listed also.

i would go with nvidia if you want to fold, which a 8800gt or 9800gtx+ would get you a ton of ppd and be cheap. but i havent folded in a while so i can remember what cards are good anymore.

Might be a good option for you sir! 159.99 after rebate.

Updated. The numbers previously listed were based on older data.

There are some nice tables on the source page explaining everything.

Buy two of nitteo's 8800gt's. They will net about 8-9000ppd together and cost less than $200.
Actually ya thats a great idea, 2 8800GT's from nitteo is probably the "BEST" ppd:$ ratio. His PNY's are 90$ shipped each.
I wont be able to run them in sli though so i would just have that second card in there for folding right.
Yes sir!

Correct. I don't think GPU folding has been released for dual card setups yet. So you just fold on them separately.

i guess i was thinking if i couldn't crossfire i would just rather go with one card that way i wont be increasing the heat load inside the case unless there was a performance gain. But i guess that is contradictory to my original op as i said i would be mainly using it for folding. But please keep the info coming guys i really appreciate it.
Tie sad but true two 8800gt's will net about the same PPD as two 4870's. Nitteo's 8800GT's would he within budget and one should game well on a 1680 by 1050 monitor.

I just sent the $$ for 2 of them myself... With my q6600, I should break 10K ppd.

We need to resurrect Ben Browns thread! Anyone seen him?
My 8800GS is OC'd (Nothing extreme w/ stock cooler) and pulls just over 4K PPD.

I'm pretty sure they're still the best PPD for the money.

The 8800GS can net 7000-8000 PPD by themselves with the new 1680 point WUs.

They dropped from being the best with all the 510point WUs but now it seems like they are flying.

wow. Its air-cooled with an Accelero S1. Runs at 56 degrees folding on that WU.

Clocks: 731/1864/925

My 8800GSs are all clocked similarily, but still don't get that much PPD... mine pull about 4kppd each @ 735/1836/950 @ 1.1v on stock air coolers (reapplied with AS5 though)

get 2 8800GTs and run them both (not in SLi) for maximum ppd

EDIT: maybe I'll try upping the shader strap again to see if that gets me even close to your ppd output, I average 8.5minutes / % while you're doing them in 3 minutes... wth !!?!

I just checked a thread. Shows that the 260GTX pulls about 8100-8200PPD on those units.... something is wierd.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=434144

I usually run the cards a bit more than half the day. Stats are showing up as correct :S

EDIT: I posted my 5903 scores. Leme check my 5902
