update* the bios has detected the intel ssd, however whenever i try saving the setting the DRAM LED lights up and the whole system would just reboot.
hm anyone? it seems i can't save my bios settings. i tried changing the battery but didnt work.
Try changing the SATA port of your SSD. Make sure it is connected to one of the intel x58 sata ports and not a JMicron one.
its connected to my SATA 6 port atm. but i'm having trouble detecting the SSD from time to time.

I dont think he has a JMicron port, I think he has Marvell ports. Anyway, yea try switching the port.

The SATA 6 ports are connected to a Marvell controller....

The two SATA 6 Gb/s ports are color-coded white, and placed next to the SATA 3 Gb/s ports color-coded blue, provided by the ICH10R southbridge. The white ports are driven by a Marvell SATA 6 Gb/s controller.
There's no reason for you to use those white ports because your drive can't even saturate the SATA 3 ports.

Use the blue (ICH10R) ports and leave the others alone.

The board is probably to new for BIOS updates.

I would change the data cable and add the Intel drivers for AHCI mode.

if you do not try to use the SSD, can you make changes in the BIOS & have them be saved properly?

If not your board is toast and needs to be RMA'ed. Forget about the SSD for now - get the BIOS issues sorted first, or you won't get anywhere.
everytime i press save and exit in bios, the DRAM LED on the mobo lights up red and the whole thing just restart.

And it doesn't do this with a mechanical HD?

sounds like a mobo problem to me. RMA time.

I'm wondering if it's just a seperate RAM problem?

could be - try removing all but 1 stick, and re-try. Then change slots one by one, then change sticks and repeat. Not going to be easy to narrow the issue down though - any error could be either RAM, cpu or board.

A memtest run might also be a good idea...

Then if you're sure, send it back.

If you're gonna RMA the board maybe that stuff will work better after repair.

This is the gen. 1 stuff and I never expect smooth sailing in the beginning.
