My friend has a Asus A8N-SLI with a 3200+ ( i think). It used to be fine for 2-3 years until she has a virus thats taking over the computer. And now whenever she turn on the computer the computer recognizes the HD seeing that its there but it can't read it. I tried using multiple HD and it give me the same error. Any suggestion?

Can you get to windows? If so try starting in safe mode, turn off system recovery and scan for viruses (apparently some viruses can come back through system recovery). I came across a virus much like that and that's how i fixed it.
Have you tried using a external docking station that connects to USB instead of SATA?

where does the computer boot to before failing? is it post?
Its during post and the error is

A disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
retail or private sale Raptors ?
This is strange since multiple harddrives cant work. Maybe its just a coincidence with the virus and has nothing to do with it

Did you try different sata cables, switching sata connectors?
Maybe either one of those have gone bad
This isn't my computer its a friend. All the specs are different than the one here

can he go to bios and try booting cd first? Then put in the recovery disk and see if that works?
Well i took her PC home and troubleshooting right now. I'm writing "0" into the drive thus deleting everything. That should reset the drive back to manufacture default state.
