my friend has an old comp(amd athlon xp 1800+...) and i would like to know if we would ge t better temps by just mounting his whole comp on a piece of wood instead of a case...all the extreme overclock(toms hardware guide then intel at 5.2 etc.) i see are done on a piece of wood and not in a case... would this be an advantage... some pros and cons?

Umm, you could jumper the two pins everytime.

What do you mean, you dont have a light switch??

Simple electricity here.

To be really cool, get a big toggle switch from autozone or radio shack or something. Something that just screams 1960's nasa technology!

Werd
That's exactly what they do at Fry's in the return line to test your board.

Do what Im doing... Build your own case.

I have not updated the thread yet because Im waiting on a few bits to arrive.
Poject Wooden Case
Design process is complete I have all my measurements down... Just left with getting the MDF the few bits of metal for the HDD cage DVD cage and the PCI/AGP slots.

Anyways back on topic... Mounting the PC just on a bit of wood has its benefits and downfalls... Your have better airflow because its not restricted by a case but your openeing up your PC to much more dust.
