Hi,

I would like to mount 2 sets of 2 cathode inverters in my case, but just the PCBs not the inverter box. The boards come right out of the little case when it's opened, but if they were say, hot glued to the bottom part of the inverter box, that would be better than trying to mount the PCB directly onto the (metal) case wall I would think. Hot glue and silicone adhesive are both insulators, afaik, so one of those should be OK, yes?

Silicone or hot glue should be fine. Like you said glue them to the bottom panel of the inverter case and you don't have to worry about the PCB contacting the case.

Cool, thanks, I've got lots of silicone, so I'll use that.

I personally would go with the hot glue over the silicone

Do you have threads outside of what your using as a motherboard in this case? You could put in 2 to 4 stand offs to mount the pcb; as long as you tap 2 to 4 holes in the PCB to mount.

Hot glue should work fine though If you apply enough to provide a buffer. I'm not sure if you have open thread holes, or modding tools to drill a hole and tap it so you can thread in a stand off.

I'm not sure yet because my motherboard's still in my current case, but probably there is room. I was looking more to hiding two of the boards on the bottom of the 3.5 drive bay and two more on the right side of the 5.25 bay near the top of the case. I think the bottoms of the existing inverter boxes will work fine, just wasn't sure what to use to affix them in place.

Several reasons actually; easier to work with, not as messy, sets up faster, etc. IMO, the hot glue is also a better insulator than silicone; not to mention electronics/PSU manufacturers regularly use forms of hot-melt glue as insulators and for providing strain relief for wires soldered to PCBs.
