Hey guys, I was trying last week to get my phone's bluetooth to work tethered with my netbook in order to bypass cruddy wireless internet at my university/work.
I found out that for Verizon, its a $15/mo service. Available in my area are various other providers, such as ATT, Sprint, and T Mobile. Would any of these providers offer better service than Verizon as well as greater freedom to use my already $30/mo data plan with my Blackberry Curve 8330?
ummm good luck, I believe your Curve is a CDMA phone (I'm not 100% sure), and the best service for you to use would be AT&T, and all of their phones are GSM, but it's worth a shot

Well, Verizon runs on the CDMA network, so switching providers means you would need to get a new phone. I know you can get a Curve from T-mo for pretty cheap now, a friend of mine got one for 30$ I believe. As far as data plans go, T-mo is the cheapest. Their Total Internet plan is only 20$/mo and it INCLUDES their hot spots (@ places like Kinkos and Starbucks and such).

Not ALL Curves are GSM, most are.. but the ones for Verizon/Alltel are CDMA.

Do you have any hard evidence to back up your statement? I have had T-mo for several years and have never had any issues. Depending on the area, the service may not be great.. but same goes for any other company in certain areas. Overall, costwise T-mo has pretty much everyone else beat.
