What’s New In Thunderbird 3?

Tabs and Search

If you like Firefox’s tabbed browsing, you’re going to love tabbed email. Thunderbird 3’s tabbed email lets you load emails in separate tabs so you can quickly jump between them.
Search results open in a new tab too. New tools like our timeline and filtering tools will help you pinpoint the email you’re looking for, whether it’s the one from yesterday, last month, or several years ago.

Yes, most if not all email accounts.

I use both of my Gmail accounts with Thunderbird.

Incorrect in the case of Yahoo.

No. For yahoo to work, you need to try to use something called "Ypops!"

This is because Yahoo disables access to their pop servers (for things like this) unless you are a paying member of a certain mail account.

It can be done, but you need to do some research (read as google) about ypops, and how to implement it with thunderbird.

This should get you started: (but note that the guide was most likely written for TBird-2)

Also, Lightning is not supported by Thunderbird 3

(lightning is used to manage your google calendar and stuff)

This should probably be resolved soon.

When Firefox went 3 many apps took a week at most to roll over and be supported.

Check the lighting site, they should be rolling out V1 soon and TB3 support with it.

Thanks for letting me know. Updating now.

Definitely going to take some getting used to. Too bad my calendar add-on doesn't work anymore.

Really... I use my free yahoo! account with Thunderbird 2.0? Works brilliantly!

It is a "yahoo.co.uk" rather than "yahoo.com" address though.

Wow thanks for that. I hadn't been keeping up on the progress of Thunderbird 3 despite using it every day, looking forward to it.
