I know we have many members running MSIs, but the preferred are ABIT and ASUS.

Make sure to get killer cooling for the cpu and you should be able to get some good rates.

You want to switch the CMOS jumper or hold INSERT on boot to reset your BIOS.

Have you attempted to OC this system yet?

Yes 1 beep is generally good.
Since you have not oced you should switch the CMOS jumper to enable a reset of the bios, you also may be having a heat or PSU problem. because you are using a 300W I think the problem is that you are overloading the PSU causing the system to shutdown.

If you are nto using a HS that is made for your processor that would be the problem, the CPU is overheating causing a shutdown,I recommend getting a compatible HS immediately.

Hey, well were having issues... i got the system down to something stable (81 degrees C, which is better than 95) but every time i go to boot or setup windows it dies. When i boot, ill get to the boot screen then ill get a blue screen and it dies, and if i enter setup it just goes pfft. and shuts off. any clues? ive read that windows likes to kill xp configs but this is just nuts..
any help?

again why im a linux fan.. micro**** can go eat my old case!

You CPU still should not be that hot and that is why you are having the problem, you have to get a new HS, my prescott CPU can only get to 71 before it becomes unstable and critical.

If you have any ideas on a HS just post them here and we will help you to choose a safe one.

(and i put my old 1.8 gig p4 chip in the time time being until my h/s comes.. GRRR stupid cd drive start spinnin!
i got windows to install finally (i hate the bsod after a mombo replacement, is the yes/no series true if you get like 2 no's it wont boot right? mombo with onboard video sound and lan count for 3 right?
