Mobo

CPU - i7 2600k

Here are the results of different combinations of my build (my mobo has four LEDS that light up when there is a CPU in) :

-PSU+Mobo= No POST, PSU fan runs, 1 LED on mobo turns on for a brief second but then turns back off, computer cycles on and off.
-PSU+Mobo+CPU= No POST, PSU fan runs, 4 LEDs on mobo turn on for a longer period but then turns back off, computer cycles on and off.
-PSU+Mobo+CPU+RAM= POST (two beeps and a shorter, higher pitched beep, and right after there are five beeps), computer stays on
-PSU+Mobo+CPU+RAM+GPU= POST (same as above), computer stays on, no live video
-PSU+Mobo+CPU+RAM+HDD= POST, about 16 seconds between the first set of beeps and the second set of beeps (as opposed to the second set of beeps occurring right after the first)
-PSU+Mobo+RAM= No POST, runs like it was just the PSU+Mobo

The motherboard has no onboard video. I'm suspecting that the mobo may be dead since Mobo+PSU results in no POST, however, I feel as though the CPU may be dead. I know no one with a good computer so I can't try out their parts. I'm considering going to a local computer shop to see if they can test my CPU but I feel as though they may try to rip me off and try to sell me a new CPU even if the one I have is working. If you guys need links to the rest of my build I'd be happy to supply them, but it's basically an i7 2600k + GTX 580. I'd appreciate any help as I've been waiting to build a new computer for a long time now.

I found out I was powering the GTX 580 wrong (it came with a Y-cable in which there were two 6-pin Females to a 8-pin male). Initially, I plugged in 1 6-pin into that cable and plugged the 8-pin into the GTX580, along with another 6-pin in the other port on the GPU. This resulted in the GTX580 fan being very loud. I am now powering the GTX580 correctly and now I have gotten rid of the five beeps. All that is left is the two beeps followed by the shorter, higher-pitched beep. I cannot find out what those beeps mean in this guide (http://us.msi.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#1_1). I'm still not getting video out of the GTX 580 though. Did I kill the GTX580 by plugging a 6-pin into that Y cable and plugging the 8-pin end of it into the GTX580?
