I am looking for more information on this board, can't seem to find out the level of power phase on it.
I have heard, that the boards for these sandy bridge cpu's have pretty much all been able to get the chips to around the 4.5ghz+ zone. Any confirmation on this?
Just wanting to know if I should send this one back and get a different/better board (granted this board has all the features i require though).

It has a 4-phase.

Will do 4 ghz easily. 4.5, which is what you wanted, is anyone's guess, but will probably struggle at high vcore/power draw. If it's unopened id definitely send it back. May have massive vdroop...

then what would be a board with good power phase, from asus or gigabyte?
srry, haven't followed intel since the 775 days

looks like the ud4 is a 24 phase power vrm? will this suffice 4.5ghz+?

UD7 is overkill for 4.5 ghz. Will do it without a sweat. UD4 doesn't have 24 phase, that's UD7. UD4 has either 12 or 14 phase. And that will also do 4.5 ghz easily if the CPU doesn't just suck.

UD7 and UD5 are designed for people who want to push 5.5+ ghz. But you still need a CPU that is capable of such speeds and high end cooling. UD4 is more than sufficient..people have pushed 5.4+ even with UD4.

UD4 B3 will be more than sufficient for both 4.5 ghz and 5 ghz. But you still need a CPU that isn't a dud.

I have the cooling capabilities, all water.
I tried looking for people around my batch # to see what they were getting, but really couldn't find much.
lol, glanced over a review, you're right it's a 12 phase, should suffice for what my goal is.
thx

The cooling won't matter one bit if the CPU has a multiplier wall.
What you want is a low VID cpu; a chip that has a default VID under 1.23v. Unfortunately, you won't know the VID until the CPU is installed.

For the record, MSI claim to use higher quality phases and even their high end boards only have 6 phases. They can do 5 GHz too.
