$100 a kit for the AX1200. Yikes.

You'll spend $100(or more) on sleeve, heatshrink and tools (the first time) if you do it yourself. Factor in the time it takes to do and the frustration of messing up and redoing wires and it's really a great deal imo.

Hrmm, paracord from FTWPC (when and if they come back) or 100$ hassle free wires?

I'm getting all black anyways... I'ma take the plunge I think.

Let me know how it goes. The Cable Management nightmare that my TP-750 has is terrifying. I'd post pics but they would melt faces.

Paracord. Costs less and is probably higher quality than whats used here.

Looks very nice and the price, considering the work involved is good, but.. can you order a PSU from Corsair already with these ? I mean, as it is it's great for people like me who already own one of the PSUs compatible with the cables, but for people buying a new PSU now, it would be a nice idea to have the option of buying the PSU already with sleeved cables, saving you money. Being a low volume market, you would probably have to make a special order from Corsair, but I guess it could work.

Quote:

I guess they don't sell as many HX650's as they do higher wattage models
I'd definitely buy a set if they made them for the HX650 and I could get them somewhere in the UK

I think the HX650, at least the current model, will be discontinued. The HX750 and HX850 are a CWT design and are 80 Plus Silver, while the HX650 is an older Seasonic design and is 80 Plus Bronze. Seasonic has newer 650w PSU designs, but from what I've read they are more expensive, and Corsair didn't want to buy that more expensive design.

So? A lot of things cost as much as other things. Or more!

I don't agree. Sleeving is not that difficult. You can have an entire PSU's worth of sleeving shipped from MDPCX for 50 bucks and sleeve an entire PSU within hours. Making your own cables isn't that hard either.

I don't know, all of that seems a lot harder to me than clicking "buy it now" on amazon.com..
They should have went w/ high quality sleeving. It looks cheap. Not something I'd expect from Corsair.
$50? Not likely. And it definitely takes more than a few hours. I'd say closer to 12+ to do an entire PSU.

For 60 feet of sleeving it would cost you 20 bucks, with 10 bucks international shipping. If you want to add heatshrink, another 6 bucks. Then about 4 hours of time. I've sleeved 8 PSU's and on average it's 4 hours. Not THAT time consuming. You can do it while watching hockey.
The cables cost a third to a half of the power supply. That is a lot of money for aesthetics, just to keep in mind. It is not like Corsair's stock cables are bad looking either.

But of course that purchase decision is up to the individual.

From the pictures it looks like hideously long shrink wrap is used... If that's the real/final product I think going with ftw/paracord sleeving and doing it yourself would be a better look overall.

Doing it yourself allows to make strange color schemes, mix colors, or even arrange wires in a fancy fashion.

Sleeving a full PSU takes roughly 10h, making it with Paracord 550 costs rougly €16, let's give a cost of €8 per hour, and you have that the price is actually fair.

But I love doing it myself. It feels very fulfilling when you see the whole thing sleeved by yourself, and how it looks

Great job you did there listening the enthusiast crew, Corsair.

Edit: Takes 10h if you like to re arrange wires in more convenient fashions, not just cutting the cable and putting new connectors. I actually plug out every single pin, sleeve it, and put it back in place. It takes a lot of time, but also saves a lot of money in connectors.

Props to corsair. I will be getting a set of white ones so I can ditch my NZXT extensions. These are perfect for people like me who don't have the time to sleeve a entire PSU. For people turned off by the heat shrink, you are way too picky. Its a cable 9 out of 10 people could care less.
