Hi, I am in process of building my first pc, my question is can I take my old harddrive from the old computer and put it in my built pc and boot normally with all my files still on there? Thanks. As always +rep for help

Yes you can. Just remove it from the old case install it into the new case. Plug in the sata connectors and your on your way.

You should be able to but it depends. I believe the OEM version of windows doesn't allow you to swap motherboards, or maybe it was some other version, I forget. As long as it wasn't in raid and its a SATA HDD then you should be able to put it in your new system no problem, otherwise there may or may not be issues depending on both of the systems.

You may have to back up all your files first then transfer them back on the the hard drive if your going to build a whole new system. I'm not sure if this answers your question
