My first X58! (My first non-LGA775!)

So I've been a bit disappointed with my rig lately, so I'm trying to sell off my XFX 750i, my Q9550, 8GB iPod Nano (4th Gen), and a few various other components.

I'm aiming for around $600 (after everything sells, and after a few paychecks), then I'll pick up:

XFX X58i (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=P450-9128)
i7 920 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=CP1-I7-920)
> $480 for both

3x Crucial Ballistix 2GB DDR3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148308)
> $180 for all three

= $640 for everything. Gonna see what else I could throw together and sell to make the out-of-pocket seem as minuscule as possible.

I had never heard of that mobo before, thanks for the introduction. What does it OC like?
lol I would seriously stay away froim that Mobo.. just read up on it.. even the reviews at the bottom of teh page say its crappy.. :S other than that ur good.
Weird. I just ordered that RAM in a 6gb kit. It's "Out for Delivery" right now. I wonder what the heck happened to this kit.

grab a evga, asus, bloodrage board.

those 3 are great for about $230 range

also im guessing you dont have a microcenter nearby to save you $60 on the 920?

OT: cant wait on the 10th i get to see metallica again!!!
From what I've heard, the X58i isn't amazing... http://www.hexus.net/content/item.ph...=17174&page=10

You could do better with an Open Box ASUS P6T or something like that from Newegg. Also, you could get a member of OCN to ship you an i7 for less money than that, if they live near a Microcenter.

Don't forget that you don't need Tri-Channel RAM in the Core i7 system, dual-channel still works.

exactly, get any version of the bloodrage if possible and also you your I7 920 at microcenter, they are only 200$ there, so you will save 80$ on the CPU alone!

even the 96T is only 240 on tiger

if oyu can find a good set of g.skill tridents, even the 1600's get them too ,they are pretty cheap and FAST

the ASUS are not very popular among overclockers for some very odd reason, a lot of their boards are fantastic for overclocking. Like the P6T7 WS (something like that) super computer board. My p6t deluxe v2 got me to 4.5.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll stay away from that board then. Also, I'm only about 10 minutes from a microcenter but they're out of stock at the moment
. If they ever go back in stock of course I'll go there (I got my Q9550 there for $160!).

Thanks for the RAM suggestions too, as well as Bloodrage! I think I'll go for a Bloodrage, I like 'em. As for RAM, I'll look for some of the G.Skills.

, stay tuned!

go for the bloodrage. Although, microcenter didn't have it when I went... (the one near bellmore), I got a P6T deluxe v2 instead and it's a great board. If you can't wait/not in M, I'd get that board.

just my :twocents:

anyway, subscribed, I'd like to see how this turns out.

The one in Westbury? That's the one I shop it... then again it must be that one because that's the only one in New York, haha.

Thanks for the input and the sub
.

If you could afford one, I suggest a EVGA X58 Classified or even a Gigabyte UD5 and the UD7 is pretty nice as well.
Just grab and EVGA X58 LE if you're low on cash:

All the rest is fine
