I'm no mice "expert" so I'll just talk about my impressions of the two. First of all, I have small hands (7 inches from wrist to middle finger) and use claw grip. I've been using a G9 for the past four years until it crapped out on me, hence the new G9x replacement. (Thank you Logitech

) So I'm really comparing two brand new mice. Also, I'm using a aluminium mouse pad as you can see in the pic below. (custom 5T black anodized aluminium

) I haven't updated the firmware to 32 yet so it's on 30a I believe.

Sensor, LOD, grip, size, tactile feel, switch location, ergonmics, surface materials...etc are all great!!!! We all know that this is a great mouse so I won't talk about that. The CM Spawn is a solid mouse but a few small things that I noticed:

-DPI switching. On the fly, easy. But no visual indication of what setting you're in unless you move the mouse around. LED indicators would have been nice.

-Due to the shape/grip most of the palm weight rests on the bottom right. Because the Spawn only has two teflons and the lower one (near the wrist) is so small, it puts a lot of pressure on one side of that particular teflon piece. So occasionally, the mouse will wobble even though it's on a perfectly flat surface. No big deal though because using a claw grip eliminates most of this anyway.

-Also because of this palm weight, I've had a few unintended right-clicks. The fact that it has a softer tactile click than the G9 doesn't help. But again no big deal really. I actually prefer the softer clicks on the Spawn.

-The scroll wheel has more resistance than the G9X, but clicking is better. G9's have some hard to click scroll wheels. I prefer the G9's for smoother scrolling though (with the microgear on.)

-Spawn is lighter compared to the G9X without any weights. It would have been nice if there were weight add-ons though because some prefer heavy mice. In this regard, the G9X feels more solid and planted to the ground. I can't say one is better than the other though.

Aside from the small nit picks, I think this is a great mouse for people with small hands who use claw grips. G9/G9x is still my favorite but the Spawn comes in a close 2nd and I'm still getting used to it so who knows? This is all my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

How are the left clicks between the two? I love my g9x's left click.

Would you say the middle click was much better? I read your post, but that's my only complaint. The middle click on the g9x sucks for games. I always end up mapping it to the side.

The left click on the Spawn is "softer" than the G9x. Less resistance and slightly less clicking sound as well.

The middle click is far superior on the Spawn than the G9x. It's easier to click which I absolutely love. As I mentioned earlier though, the scroll feels muddy compared to the G9x. Each gear is more pronounced but this is no big deal I think.

I almost was gonna pick up a Spawn but decided that $50 was too much just to write a comparison review for something I probably won't like as much as my G9x.

I really like the side button's on the G9x. They are the best I've ever felt, especially for web browsing.

The middle button on the G9x is indeed hard to press so I use it for mute. It is good for commands you do not press often, like the airstrike in Call of Duty. I really like the scroll wheel for web browsing.

I've found I prefer a heavier weight. Don't know why.

One thing for me that really bites about the Spawn is the lack of the wheel clicking left and right. I use that for copy & paste and could never go back to not having it.

calavera, could you tell us how the ring finger and pinky feel on the Spawn compared to the G9x? The Spawn has that nice section for those fingers. On both G9x grips, I feel that those two fingers have no place to go. For me they drag on the mouse pad. That's the only thing I don't like about the G9x.

Edit: I just looked at Jesse's post below and measured my small hands. They are 7" too. HAHA we have girly hands.

The Spawn definitely has more grip for the pinky finger although if you relax you'll drag it on the mouse pad. While the thumb side is concave so there's room to rest on, the pinky side is just flush. But it's better than the G9x IMO.

Also, the softer clicks on the scroll wheel and back/forward thumb buttons are just perfect. The lack of side click for the scroll wheel is no big deal for me as I rarely use it in any application.

People who are used to the G9's should definitely try the Spawn out. I've shelved my G9x and am using the Spawn as my main driver from now on.

Calavera are the left click and the right click good for taping cause when I use my g9x the only problem that annoy me is the g9x clicking sound especially when im playing mmorpg game

Define "taping"

tapping?

Clicking sound is about the same. It's just takes less pressure to click.
