You will want a 230/220v compressor with at the very least 1/6 hp. 1/4 or 1/3 hp is preferable with a single evap system.
Ask your friend HP of the compressor. Also ask whether it is hermetic or rotary. Rotary is shaped like a tall cylinder,hermetic is shaped like a pumpkin. Rotary compressors are easier to contain but are also much louder than hermetics,you trade size for noise.
