I've tried overclocking, each time it screws up and something goes bad and I gotta go back to stock. A QX6700 and 1 G80 should run anything I throw at it for some time... and when it cant handle it, I'll go SLI.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131031

how this one, Its double spaced, but a NF4 x16 chip. Whats the difference between that and NF590?

Anyway, crazy build, but I don't see why you wouldn't OC it...

I can't see how someone can sit with a QX6700 in their rig and not want to OC it, it's mind boggling...

The second mobo you posted is based on nforce4, go with the first one you posted

Getting everything ready...

Sata hard drive and Sata DVD-RW ftw. Not 1 IDE Cable!

Now all I gotta do is pop the motherboard, GPU, Processor, and Sound Card in there and connect the cables, and I'm done

Hurry up and be released, I'm sick of using this 100$ Compaq..

Ok having some 2nd thoughts, I didnt think the next-gen motherboards were coming out in November, I was told Q1 07.
I ordered: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR 800 4-4-4-12

The packages will be here wednesday and I was wondering if I should just refuse them and get some nice DDR1000+ because the new boards support them and get a 680i chipset or RD600.

Thoughts?

Well I called ASUS and asked when this board will support SLI (P5W DH Deluxe) and they were no help at all and didnt even know anything about it.

So it makes me want to refuse this order and get a different board...

So...refuse the package for my D5W DH Deluxe & XMS2 DDR 800?

And get these:
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/10...ps_NForce_680/

And a different type of ram?

P.S. I'm trying to get build help and I really don't appreciate people just totally changing the subject...

I'll prob do a small OC. I simply don't see the need to OC a processor/GPU that will be able to max everything already. When I cant play games on max, thats when i'd OC.

If I stick with the DDR800 ram, is there a speed difference between going to the 680i chipset, or staying with this 975x chipset? Like does it make a difference in games?

Decided to stay with the P5W DH Deluxe, I thought Kentsfield was 1000$, but its actually 1300$. I cant afford the other motherboard ATM =(

Was wondering.. If my board doesnt have the updated BIOS it won't support kentsfield.. So does that mean I won't be able to boot at all, or will the board just utilize 2 cores until I update?

I hope I don't have to find a cheap socket 775 processor just to update the BIOS!

Another pic... Now all I gotta do is wait for my QX6700 and G80 plug em in, and i'm good to go! My sound card got cut off in the picture =(

Really happy the way the wiring turned out, This is all the cables that are going to be inside the case.. (Minus the heatsink). Everything is wired up behind the mobo tray =D

I'll be buying another 2GB kit after vista comes.

Slight delay, after getting the motherboard in, I removed the CPU cover for the first time to see that theres a pin on the motherboard that is broken where the CPU goes.. Now I gotta RMA =/

I think i'm just gonna get a refund and get the new 680i SLI chipset.
