My SWEET i7 Build, any suggestions?

So this is a list of my sweet setup on it's way and the deals I scored. Total spent, $1500 Did I miss anything? Did I screw up somewhere? Let me know what you think. My Brother works for Nvidia and told me to hold off on a nice GPU till the new one comes out cause it will blow everything else away on the market. That's why I'm weak in this area right now.

I'd suggest getting a better GPU, maybe a 5850? Do you have anything that can hold you over until there available?

which do you suggest? Remember, I'm Nvidia family.

I think the GPU is way underpowered compared to the rest of the rig, not to mention your motherboard is overkill for 1 gpu...if you are a nvidia fan maybe cheap GTX 260's? imo could have spent more on the video card and less on a diff board, maybe one even with USB 3.0 and Sata 6gbps if you wanted. Also, the power supply is total overkill, not sure about that PSU but I think the Corsair HX850 could be had for less and is totally sufficient for your needs and very efficient. Gotta love the flat modular cables. Went from the HX620 to M12D and totally miss the flat modular cables, really helps with cable management
You have to get a better GPU. Also, you don't need that big of a power supply. Save some money, get a cheaper PSU, add the money you save to a video card, and call it a day.

Please don't buy that 9600.
THanks for the info guys, i'll see what changes I can make. won't the big power supply be nice/needed when a newer GPU comes out?
Tying yourself down to 1 brand is the worst thing you can do when shopping for PC hardware -_- learn to love both worlds.
I think you can also get cheaper and faster ram, try looking up the G.Skill Trident 2000Mhz. Think they are cheaper and from my experience are great sticks of ram. Might want to try different thermal compound. AS5 is so 3 years ago, look into some geil or noctua thermal compound. As for the PSU I don't think 2x 5970's on a high spec rig even draw close to 850w, not to mention the HX850 load tests well and goes at spec to like 1kw. Also, that HD is a nice capacity for price, but that is better for just storage, you might want a WD 1TB black which can be had for like 90 and will perform better, but it's upto you

Then hold off on buying everything else. Prices will drop by then.

I wont comment on the gpu but other than that this build looks solid. The only thing I would change is getting a second smaller hard drive for your operating system. And yes being tied down to one brand is the worst thing you can do..... but people like vettepilot77 and myself are stubborn

Edit: It took me two years to switch from AMD to Intel.

Yes, I have a WD 500GB drive to throw in as well until I buy a solid state for the OS. What power would be suggested? I plan on putting in multiple gpu's. It sounds like a 850W would do the job.

Ha Ha, well like I said, I've got family that work for Nvidia my brother and my brother in-law both! A guy could be shot for buying the competition!!

Really depends on how much you want spend on a PSU, but since your rig is already so high end i'd say the Corsair HX850 is the best PSU at the power range (also depends if you want modular, but trust me you do). It'll definitely power your rig for another couple of years.

Very true, we wouldn't want you to die because of a video card....... And BTW you made the right choice

ROCK ON NVIDIA!!!

I think it's odd that you spent $350 on the motherboard and $120 on the monitor, considering you look at the monitor a good deal more frequently than you look at the motherboard...
good overall build, but like every1 has said the psu is a bit overkill and your current choice of vid card will bottleneck the rest of your rigs awesomeness... if you must stay with nvidia id suggest upping it to a 260 sc till fermi comes if you dont really want to go for the current highest nvidia card which would be the 295...

hope this helps

enjoy your new build
you dont need that motherboard. your on budget air cooling and i dont think you will go tri configuration with GPUs at all soon. just a Asus P6t Deluxe V2 and then lower the PSU to a Corsair HX750 or 850. thatll dave you money and allow you to get a GTS250 or GTX260. if oyu want to wait for fermi just get a evga 260 then step up through there step up program. you just have to pay the difference between the 2 cards.
