Hi, currently i am running 2 gb of XMS DDR400 on a divider running @ 208 Mhz (DDR416) 2.5,3,3,6 1T with a cpu fsb of 325.<br><br>
I was wondering if it would be worth getting 2 gb of G Skill HZ DDR500 over my XMS? Before you answer yes <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Big Grin"> , I will most likely have to run a divider on the G Skill as well as i doubt i will beable to go 1:1 with a cpu fsb of 325.<br><br>
So, if i have to use a divider on the G Skill will there be that much of a difference in speed of the ram to justify the upgrade?<br><br>
Thanks,

hmmm well on ddr600 would get close to that as it runs at 300mhz stock , erm well if there both on a divider i would say no its not worth it, but the closer you get to a 1:1 ratio the better performance you will get <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

I ran my G.Skills at 265Mhz 3-4-4-8-1T <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"> But had to put them back to 250Mhz due to CPU, Great ram <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> Many people went higher than that aswell <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

Yeh but like Mootin said, unless i can run it at 1:1 (No divider) it probably would'nt be worth it. I would have to hit 325 MHz (DDR650) on the ram. Do you think the G Skill can hit that speed, lol ?

i doubt it , but then again im no expert with gskills.<br><br>
i think you should try and get the lowest timings available, that would help performance alot <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thumb"><br><br>
i really doubt you could hit a 1:1 ratio <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Frown"> even tccd and bh5 would struggle with that.<br><br>
also ddr600 is quite rare, and only come's in 512mb modules.

It's not DDR600 it's the G Skill DDR500 i was looking at getting <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"> . Actually they are supposed to be here tomorrow but after thinking about it, unless i was able to hit a 1:1 with them which i doubt i can, i should probably send them back and save the $$'s.<br><br>
I heard of people getting the G Skill up to about 280, but 325 is asking alittle to much i think, lol.

yeh i was just saying the ddr600 is the only thing that could get near what you wanted <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"><br><br>
well when it gets here just see how far you can get them with the lowest timings and then benchmark them against the xms <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

yeh, i will probably end up doing that then sell the other sticks. The price's of ram are unreal lately. The XMS i got are 299.00 now <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/eek.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="EEK!"> . I picked up the G Skill for 219.00 new from the Egg.
