Alright, the monitor in my system hasn't been purchased yet but I am buying it in-store so it doesn't matter I can get it the day my comp comes in from DirectCanada.

Basically I am limiting myself to Canada Computers because they offer in-store stock numbers and I live in Hamilton so I can easily get to Waterloo, Mississauga, or Brampton) http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...d=pl&id=MT.258

My Choices:

• Acer AL2216WBD http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...005&cid=MT.258

My Questions:

• What is the difference between the VG2030WM and VX2035WM?
• Does 3ms (from 8ms to 5ms) really make a difference? I am running an 8800GTS and plan to do some hardcore gaming.
• What is the difference between 600:1, 700:1, and 800:1 contrast rations? Will I noticed the difference if I use my rig mainly for serious gaming?
• Acer, LG, Viewsonic...do these brands produce good products? Which brand is the most reputable?
• The LG has 1400:1 contrast. Will I noticed the difference in this between a Viewsonic with 800:1 while playing games, such as BF2142?

Notes:

• The LG may be unavailable. There is only one in stock in Mississauga so if you recommend it please provide your second choice as well.
• I am buying this soon and I want the monitor to last a while so please consider the reputation of the brand and their quality of products when giving your opinion.

For gaming I recommend Viewsonic. Don't go over 8ms. At least 700:1 constant ratio is recommended, but it's ok if it's a bit lower

Of your choices I like the ViewSonics. I've seen too many bad Acer LCD's to ever want to buy anything from them. I've only seen LG TVs so I don't know how their LCD's are.

my friend's mom works at lg tech support so I could ask her if they have a lot of bad lcd monitors

Thanks a lot for the info. guys. Basically I thought that about Acer too but I was unsure because even though I hear bad claims, I have never owned one.

I hear LG is amazing for electronics but yes I don't know how their LCDs are, only their TVs. Michalot, I would be very grateful if you could do that for me. Thanks in advance.

If all opinions are different I might go with the Viewsonic VX2025WM mainly because I know someone who has one and they say it's awesome.

I have also heard reports that 22" LCDs running at 1680x1050 (as opposed to a 20" at the same res.) have flawed performance and that a 20" would run better at that res. Can anyone confirm this?
