Need a new AGP card

So, after a long hard life, my Radeon X1600 Pro finally died...I get home from work today, and my mom has somehow managed to dump a glass of water into the upper fan aperture, and onto my video card...needless to say, it artifacts like crazy for about 10 seconds, then shuts off.

I know everyone will tell me to upgrade to PciE x16, DX10, etc, but I can't afford that. My parents are replacing the video card (I think *cross fingers*) but nothing else...I'm thinking this

but I'm worried it might run too hot and force me to lower my CPU overclock.

What do you guys reccommend?

Kinda expensive, if you need an AGP card and don't mind used one..

I have a 7600gs here you can have for cheap.

7600gs is faster than 1600pro..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127401 its sad when new technology is almost as cheap as old technology after rebate. not including the price drop yet either. Get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102814 or a mini step up the 3850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102730
Hmm. I would find a good Nvidia AGP card. Perhaps This one?

thats suppose to be good?

I can only recommend this card for you:

will be a nice notable stepup from your x1650, 2600XT will be faster than the x1950PRO as well.

Next best thing is the HD 3850, i won't suggest getting that since it will get bottlenecked by your sempron.

I'd say your best options are to look for a cheap one on eBay or post in the wanted section. In my opinion $100 is too much to spend on dead end tech. If you still want to buy a brand new card at least get the fastest AGP card, the HD3850 (it even cost the same as the x1950 you linked to after the rebate).
Is the HD3850 backwards-compatible with DX9?
yes. but you'll just get the same performance of a 2600 since your cpu will bottleneck.

Yes, the HD3850 can run DX9. The HD3850 is DX10.1 capable but that doesn't mean it can only run DX10.1. There shouldn't be any compatibility problems with your system (as long as you have enough room in you case).
