So im going to try and get one of these $200 laptops at the mart tomorrow morning http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...Specifications. I did a little digging and found out that it is a single core socket 1 chip. It has an amd M780G chipset. Im already ordering the 2 gigs to make it 4. My question is: Will i be able to put this proc http://www.starmicro.net/detail.aspx?ID=947 on it and have it work? If so, would this one http://www.starmicro.net/detail.aspx?ID=1096 work if i was feeling rich? I have never owned an amd product ever and i really dont know enough to make these decisions on my own. Im thinking if it would work that i could make a pretty decent laptop for less than it costs msrp.

i may have to stick to a certain cpu to get at least a dual core. That would cost 15.00 or so plus shipping. The ram is cheap as well, like 50.00.
Others have done the upgrade of CPU you are talking about but they were Acer's. But sounds like it could work?
yeah i have done a bunch more research since my last post. I'm thinking that it is a s1 g2 due to the m780g's much updated specs. That means i can use the newest turion x2 chips. The only concern is heat generation. My mom and my sister are doing the doorbuster thing at the w-mart so im hoping to actually score one of these things. Im looking at a serios laptop for almost no money. Im excited.
