need a x58 mb that i can put 3 vid cards and my x-fi in

Okay, i'm going to build another 920 system.

Basicly, one of my machines is going to be my gaming machine and the other is going to be my workhorse/multimedia machine (double duty, think 4 cores can handle it. lol).

My current machine has a great Asus Rampage Extreme II board, the only problem is, I can not put my X-fi in the PCie 1x slot, because of the heatsink on the chipset.

So, if i want to add a gtx 280 to the setup, I either have to go with the included X-fi (fake, done in software), or do some clever heatsink hacking/card bending.

So what i could do is get another motherboard with better spacing and use that for my gaming board.

Anyone suggest a x58 board that they have 3 vid cards and a x-fi card in it?

I will be going with a water cooler setup on it, if that matters.

I don't think there are any x58 boards out yet whitch support that many cards, at least not that I've seen so far - so correct me someone if I'm wrong..

If you want 3 GPU's and a sound card and you go for single slot cards, the ASUS P6T6 would be a good choice.. I'm using a sound card on it, but the on-board audio is quite nice to imo actually.. so for 3 GPU's alone at least the P6T6 is definetly sweet for such a setup..

As Duckie said, wait for the EVGA X58 Classified since money doesn't seem like an issue for you.

The EVGA Classified sounds good, but it's a bit on the pricey side...

True. If he had been on a budget, he probably wouldn't have gone for the Rampage II Extreme...or the 1250w PS...or the second gtx285...or the 24" monitor...ok, I'll stop.

normally moneys a problem. just right now it's not really, but it's limited.

So the classified is finally coming out? Thats what i wanted for my current rig, but dang, $450 is kinda steep.

I'll see if there's a room problem when i go to water cooling, and if i have to, i'll just use the onboard x-fi. i'm sure it won't lower my fps too much.

Or i could try to find a shorter x-fi that doesn't suck.

the classified is a crazy cool board, and it will be less than $450 my evgaforums friends tell me.

get the Auzentech Forte... it's a low profile card.
Well, originally i wanted the classified, but i didn't want to wait. And i sold my old computer to paricially so i could justify the big expense. lol

Ya, i'm getting the classfied and another 285 to run in sli.

at least i'll have 2 good boards in my computers.
dang, this sucks. need another mb, but not sure what to get.

the classified is just a bit too much. i doubt i'd ever need it all.

probably going to stay with my extreme II for gaming, just have to figure out the sound card crap when i go 3xsli.

i can go onboard X-Fi till i get that straighted out, when i get the 3rd card.

and i'm pretty sure we don't max out the bandwidth using 1 chip sli solutions currently.
