I really need help from the experts of oc, for my audio setup. I have a budged of around 300$ and im looking for a set of headphones + sound card or amp. Because my current integrated sound is made of crap. I prefer closed back and it will be mostly used for music, movies and gaming.

I have been thinking about the xonar DX, the astro a40 with its amp or the essence stx(i can increase my budged a little if needed for this). i just hope that i dont have to buy another sound card ever or until im older heh.

For your budget a DX ($80) and a Cmoy amp ($60) should hold you over for a good while. Leaving you with $130 for your preference of Headphones.

or

You could get a Sound Blaster Z (built-in headphone amp) for $120 and have $180 for headphones.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80-Ohm is a good sounding headphone with full bass, I like the DT770 Pro 250-Ohm more balanced sound a little bit better ( I own both the 80-Ohm and 250-Ohm)
The Sound Blaster Z can drive most headphones.
The ATH-M50 are good for music, but not the greatest for surround sound for games & movies.
I've never heard of anyone that likes the ATH-M50 audio quality better then the DT770s, so I vote DT770.

You might try posting your headphone questions on the website Head-Fi, it's the website for the headphone fanatics.
