I have a set of Def Tech BP7006. One of the tower is starting to crackle on certain bass such as loud explosion or persistent bass. I need some help diagnosing if the crackling is from the amp or the sub driver.

Amp: Lets say I keep my setup as is, but disconnect the sub from the amp. If I now play some music, will I hear crackling if it is the amp? Or does the amp has to have some load across it to crackle (if it is the amp going bad)?

Hook the right channel from the amp to the left speaker and the left channel from the amp to the right speaker (ie. reverse the speakers). If the the crackling moves it's the amp, if it doesn't it's the speaker. Pretty simple huh?

It is powered sub and is part of the tower. But it does give me an idea. So thanks for the suggestion.
