Hey guys my pc was runing fine and i just decided to run a scan disk on it and i run the scan disk and now the PC will not start up it does but it gets to the verifing DIM data screen and then it says eror loading operating system ...i have took the battery out and tryed to start it back up after reseting the bios and also this PC has never bin overclocked so it does not have a overclock on it and i know it dont have a virus on it. i cant figure out why its doing this at all but i dont know much abought computers at all..please help me i have a AMD Xp 2800+ and 1 GB of ram windows XP service pack 2

Can you get into your bios? If you can see if it is recognizing your hard drive. It may have failed. Also, post your specs so we can see what you have to work with.

take out one of you memory stick and try to boot, then try it with the other, see if that help... could be bad ram chip...

ok guys thanks for the fast reply ...it is verifing the HD it is a wester digital 160GB im gona go try the ram thing now and see and get back with you on that and the specs...its abought 1 year old

make sure the pc is powered off and unpluged first!!! lol just have to make sure....

ya u can never be too safe... there are sum pretty dumb people out there and so i just had to play it safe... but imnot implying anything here with you guys.... just some people i have come accross in the past... better safe than sry right?

except mines from 08/17/04... no biggy, u might have an available update for your mobo, but i dont know, my mobo is an Abit not Shuttle... lol

It is possible that your hd has a baaad sector. Other than that, I am not sure what else to say. Sorry.

something must have gotten currupted, thats all i can think of, try a reinstall of windows,and if you have no valuable info on the drive reformat before u install..... i cant think of anything more really... sry man, hope it works out for ya...

ok ill try to reinstall windows i reealy was trying to get around that any way i could to keep all my files ill give it a little while longer before i reinstall...and what abought runing a repair of windows but win i put in the cd and set the bios to the cd rom drive win it comes up i select the repair windows thing and thin it ask me to put in the admin password in a doss window but i dont have one i never set a password?

ok a repair sounds like a good idea... maybe you should call microsoft for the PW, if you didnt set one then it must be a microsoft safety thing, give them a call and see if they can help...

well they any open now
i gues ill just go with a reinstall

EDIT:: Well win the windows scren for the CD comes up it says press enter to setup windows or r to repair well the repair thing went like i said above but win i presed enter to setup windows there was a nother repair option and it started and ran and then it said could not repair couse the the fles were screwed so i reistalled and it seams to be working ok now thanks you for the help guys.
