Hey, I have a pair of processors and motherboards lying around so might as well put them to use.

I just don't know how to combine them, I think both mobos can take both processors so I'm wondering what combination would be better.

The CPUs I have:
Core 2 Quad q9300
Core 2 Duo e6320

and motherboards:
GA-945GCMX-S2 (rev 6.6)
GA-G31M-S2L (rev 1.1)

I do not have any memory sticks around so I'd also need an advice on what kits to buy.

Cheers

I voted for the first combo because both the C2Q and the mobo are of newer generation, so they would offer the best of what you have. The G945 mobo should probably power the e6320 just fine.

Both mobos support DDR2, so a 2x2GB kit for the Q9300 and a 2x1GB kit for the e6320 should make for 2 balanced rigs. Whatever DDR2 800 kit should be pretty good, for OCing maybe 1066MHz memory would help, but I doubt these motherboards can be pushed as high as that.

Thanks!

About the RAM: I think I might have some no-name 2+1GB RAM sticks lying around, is it OK to put them into the e6320 (which will be OC'd) and buy 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz kits for the q9300?

Sure, no-name RAM isn't always bad imho. The chips are all made by Samsung or Crucial or other big company, while with the PCB it's hard to go wrong. I had once bone basic Crucial DDR and it was actually quite a good OCer (DDR667 to ~900)
