I've just mounted my new heatsink (Prolimatech Megahalems) I'm trying to get my i7 to around 4ghz stable. But I don't know where to start. I've seen guides about overclocking the i7 with 1600mhz ram but my ram is 1333mhz. What are some settings that I can use to start with? Any help is appreciated

Yeah I've skimmed through it a few times. Seems to be an awful lot of reading.. Are there any other guides?

decrease you ram multipler to 6x, and uncore to 12x

Set base clock to 200. Give the CPU some juice. You'll have to clock your memory at 1200 unless you want to try running it at 1600 (almost certainly will not be stable).
I've read over the guide now and I've ran into some problems. See link for details http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ml#post7841984
I was able to get my i7 @ 4ghz stable. But when I look at my system properties it shows @ 3.8ghz?

If you are using x21 multi then it's normal. I'm at 4.2 and it's showing 4ghz.

1.41vcore is no bueno my friend. Lower your vcore until it's not stable anymore to find the lowest voltage you can safely keep your clock at.
Alright I was able to lower my vcore to 1.35 but now I'm trying for 4.2ghz I'll post back if I run into problems..
What settings you use? I have a C0 also, (D0 in a few days i hope... mail is slow).... as of now, i am stable with 172*21 (3.61mhz) at 1.30v (1.29v after droop)... but i swear, even to go to 3.8ghz, my voltage scaling is much much worse... it seems i need over 1.37v!! I know its C0, but come on... 3.8 should be cake! and how are you scaling the QPI DRAM Voltage with your vcore volt increase? (Asus P6T V2 calls is QPI Dram... not my vDimm voltage for my RAM...) i have mine at a cozy 1.25v... do you just lock that in a 1.35 for over 3.8-4ghz and back it off once it stabilizes?
